they can't help thinking that there has to be someone working for the pistons that can make a sensible decision

How is a fire sale sensible?

How is a fire sale sensible?

Because the collective play of this entire roster outside of Blake more often than not represents the players’ weaknesses rather than their strengths.

Means a change is needed, not to fire sale your "best assets"

It doesn’t make sense unless they can get him for minimal assets and really want him for a playoff run.

Otherwise they’re better off taking a shot in the offseason. There won’t be much competition then.

I can see NY over paying for anything that looks like a superstar. Dre's also marketable.

Yeah, it's actually going to be the exact opposite. There will be plenty of teams ready to sign Drummond because of how weak the FA class is. Having his bird rights and already being familiar with the organization for a year will go a long way in Drummond feeling comfortable resigning with them.

Dre, Reggie & Thon for Zeller, Batum, Monk and unprotected 2020 first.

They clear heaps of cash of the books and put themselves in the box seat to retain Dre.

We tank obviously, adding 2 young prospects and vets who won't rock the boat next season.

No one is going to “fire sale” anything; that’s hyperbole and not going to happen.

That being said, you’re saying the same thing I am—change the roster. I’m just saying to change nearly the entire roster. Keep the players who show some promise of developing into something and dump the rest for as much as you can get for them, but yes, change them out for the sole purpose of making changes, results be damned. Making minor tweaks here and there, and generally overpaying to do so, is what is keeping this team in the treadmill.

The problem is that the only people who see any value in what the Pistons have are the organization and some Pistons fans. No teams are knocking at the door trying to acquire anything the Pistons have; there’s no way something wouldn’t have popped up in the news somewhere, and nothing ever does.

Ok, stay with me...if Charlotte wants to rebuild, and if that rebuild includes acquiring Andre Drummond, and the Pistons agree to trade Drummond to Charlotte, that would represent a pretty major change to the Pistons lineup that most fans would care about. ;)

I feel like Blake, Dre, and Reggie are the "most attractive" assets we have and I'm for trading any of them. The team clearly needs a change in direction. Reggie hasn't worked from the onset, neither has the combination of Blake and Dre. I think Dre would bring the best return because he still has upside, rarely hurt, and can potentially average a Dub-Dub in the right system. I would start at San Antonio. Dre for Derozen and White should work by the numbers and fill needs for both teams.

Hard to think of Dre as a rebuild piece. He's 27 next season and about to get paid. More of a treadmill piece for the Hornets.
