Just some opinions and observations

Post#1 » by davidvolumes » Mon Jan 6, 2020 11:17 am

Sekou is already our best Wing Defender by far better than Blake better than Snell better than Morris. In the future Andre should not be involved in the high pick-and-roll he is a liability when he catches the ball 20 feet away from the basket. In addition when was the last time you seen Andre catch a lob off the high pick-and-roll. Andre should set screens for our 3 point shooters running through the middle. That would give him better position making him available for the lob. Finally Seiko should be the one involved in the high pick-and-roll he needs more touches is a much better capable shooter than Andre to be involved in the high pick-and-roll.

I'd like to see Drummond involved in more of the high pick-and-roll-his-ass-outta-here.

I was so happy when Kemba Walker slipped to us, and then David Stern yelled out "Brandon Knight from the University of Kentucky" :banghead:

Knight vs Walker, Moose vs DMC, Drummond vs Valanciunes. At least we won the last one.

Depends on if we re-sign Dre to a bloated next contract or not.

We never hand the chance to draft DMC- he was before Monroe.

Also, JV was picked ahead of Drummond and not even in the same draft.

I was talking more about the arguments and comparisons that followed each draft. Raptors fans were forever hijacking Drummind threads on the GB bigging up Val (sore over passing on Drummond for Terence Ross) . There was a lot of DMC vs Moose discussion on here i seem to remember as well.

Knight over Kemba, Klay, Kawhi, Vuc (Butler)

Monroe over Hayward, PG13...

Yeah yeah yeah every organisation can go back and look at what they should have done but it does show that IF you can get a couple of picks "right" in a row you set the foundation.

Monroe was the right pick. If I remember correctly, it was Cousins, Ekpe Udoh and Monroe. Cousins was a pipedream. Udoh, altough a solid prospect, he had a low ceiling (upperclassman). Monroe, with his calm demeanor was the right pick. Drummond was the right pick. Middleton was the right pick. PG13, Klay, Kawhi, etc. most of these "could haves" weren't on our radar at the time.

Most times we chose a good prospect, but the development for them and our willingness to get a veteran to replace their minutes has been nothing short of

Dumars and Van Gundy seem to have. I mean they did draft Middleton and Dinwiddie respectively but bailed too soon on them in 2020 hindsight. But they made obvious whiffs.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about Stefanski regime drafting - Bruce Brown, Sekou and Bone, along with snagging Lou King on a 2-way. How is the euro stash playing this season - Anybody know? Thomas looks like he might bust, but he also could be a kid who shows well in his next stop. He plays snake bit in the NBA, however shows well enough when in the G-League that there is a NBA role player there.

If we had any cap space I'd cut Frazier to give a full contract to Bone to open up a two-way to either sign Donta Hall or any other G-League talent that Malik Rose has identified. We have like $3000 under the tax though. But the tax does factor in at the end of season so we could make a trade later to get back under it.

Monroe was a good pick who never developed whatsoever to enhance his game. Letting him walk for nothing was the mistake.

They were all good picks at the time, Knight was considered a steal at the time, he was expected to go much higher, same with Drummond, most fans were ecstatic that he fell. Only one that I really didn't want and was opposed by the fan base over the past few years was Kennard, most people even on draft night wanted Mitchell, I think most people liked the Doumbaya pick this year too.
