That trade has aged well. Swapping half of a meaningless season of Bullock was worth taking a flier on this kid. I still don't think he's much more than a shooter off the bench, but he's a viable rotation player for sure and that's good value for trading Bullock under those circumstances.

I think he has proven to be the best playmaker after Rose since Reggie got injured. Check how he moves the ball, not only the assists. He needs to develop his mid range game and to be able to protect himself when he is attacking the rim (when you see him attacking the rim with traffic, you know that is gonna end up with a block for sure).

If Kennard had his mentality, he would score more than 20 ppg for sure.

Svi is averaging 1.7 assists in 20 mpg. He's not a playmaker. He's a shooter with decent enough handles and court vision that he can occasionally make defenders pay for overplaying his jumpshot. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and if he stays in his lane, he can be a contributor on all sorts of teams.

I didn't watch the game, but a win now and again is okay if you can get that out of Sekou.

If he doesn't develop well there's no point to any of this.

Not to mention, boosting any trade value that Rose and Morris might have.

I'm not sure if they have any interest in trading Rose but this might be the time to sell high on him if a contender is offering a 1st. Rose would be a good guy to have around the youngsters for this year and next but this is about asset management so if they're serious about a rebuild, they need to stockpile picks when they can. If they can get a 1st for Rose and a two 2nds for Morris and Galloway, that would be a good start. Deal Drummond for anything at this point just to move on from that era.

That's what stands about Sekou even more than the physical gifts. He has that "no fear" look to him which is hard to find in players this young, he has that special intangible. The way he went at Kawhi and frustrated Lebron when he got in his grill in his first 2 full NBA games told me all I needed to know about his mentality. That type of personality will endear him quickly to a blue collar town like this.

+1. You can tell that he just has that superstar level mentality where no matter what he thinks he's the best player on the floor. The never shook French Prince.

Stanley Johnson also went at James without fear, and he shut down Kawhi that one time vs Toronto...

I bet he bullies Andre behind the scenes.

Actually I should word that different. He just seems more grown than Andre

Strangely enough, I'm sure he feels pretty similar to how Greg Monroe must have felt when Andre came in.

Casey and I think otherwise. He is sharing the court many minutes with Rose who is the primary ball-handler which makes more difficult for him to show his playmaking abilities and even in this situation he is showing great skills at it.

I love Rose's comment - "No boys allowed"

Unless they're Bad Boys.

Sekou might be one. Andre will always just be an overgrown boy. Derrick's comment applies to both.

He just had zero offensive talent.

Sekou obviously has a feel for the game on that end of the floor that Stanley could only dream of.

I don't think Stanley Johnson in his career has had a 6 game span as good as what Sekou has had in these 6 games to start his career.

Sekou has natural offensive talent, good hands, and touch whereas Stanley had muscle, speed, and hard work but little touch.

I really liked Stanley but offensively he was a hustle guy. He worked too hard to change his low release shot to the point where he lost his own shot and wasn't comfortable or smooth with it.

Sekou's ability to twist in the air and make any shot near the rim is extremely useful. Great finisher at the rim and good confident high release 3pt shooter.

Skills matter.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

I know it gets tiring with the comparisons, but Sekou is looking like Pascal in that little clip above. Not only in shot making but the mismatch post ups and the dribble drives are very Siakam like. Even that 2 dribble drive & spin move is basically a mirror image of Siakam.

If his defense comes, which Siakam is also really known for, then we are in really good hands.
