Max out John Henson and call it an offseason.

I'm guessing Knight will stay to fill the PG slot after Reggie's buyout. Brown/Knight/Bone should help us get to the bottom five.

i could see why reggie might not want a buyout. assuming the pistons dial back rose's minutes (please god i hope they do this), he's primed for big minutes and a big role to finish the season. that's a good chance for him to build his value back up heading into free agency since his value earlier this year was next to zero.

he's not scoring that efficiently despite shooting well from 3 but he's put up some big games since he's returned and if he continues to play like that i'm sure he'll get offers in the $8-10 million range as a backup PG.

I hope for everyone involved Reggie gets bought out and goes to the clips. We get to watch the young guys have a go, Reggie plays for something meaningful and the clips get an extra play maker. Wins all round

Don't forget about Wood. And maybe we'll draft Ball? That could be our starting five next year.

No, thanks. Instead, the management needs to start thinking about releasing current players that won't/shouldn't be of much use.

I think we'll be hesitant to buy-out Reggie until Rose and maybe some of the others like Kennard or Khryi Thomas come back. I'm guessing they aren't in a hurry to blow things up and hand over the reigns to Jordan Bone :)

So... why hasn't Reggie been bought out yet? Are they waiting for Rose to get healthy to make this decision?
I don't see the point for him or the team to rot here the rest of the season.

Reggie might not accept a buyout. He likely gets more minutes here to showcase himself for free agency than anywhere else.

That's likely the biggest consideration. Will Casey start him if he stays, or give him a prominent 6th man role? If not, hard to see why Reggie would want to play out this season riding out bench.

From the Pistons perspective, it's about how committed they are to the tank and whether they see any road forward with Reggie. I can't imagine they do, but they may want to keep him solely to preserve Rose.

if he won’t accept a buyout, then just waive him. I don’t understand what the holdup would be if we really do view Bruce as a PG moving forward.

I think there are political considerations with these things. Even if there's no future for you and a player past this season, agents and players notice how you handle these moments and consider it when deciding where they play/steer their players. We may ultimately wind up waiving Reggie, but sometimes you need to work through the process first.
