Predict Drummond's next contract and who he signs with.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Tue Feb 18, 2020 4:20 pm

First question, does he opt out to become a FA or does he play out his one year and $28 million left on his contract?

I'm going to say he signs with the Cavs for 4 years $100 million.

What are your thoughts?

Teams with rumored interests include the Cavs, Hawks, Knicks, and Hornets.

Hmm I'll bite...I'll go with 3 year / $60M deal with the Hornets

Feels like his perceived value around the league has dropped so astronomically this season after his scintillating start. I expect him to opt in.

Charlotte and Atlanta both got fooled into getting an out of prime Dwight back in the day so he'll have some (though not much) interest.

He's not a head case so he's got that going for him but he doesn't really mark off wins as your top 3 guy on your team though. It's a tough call.

Yup that’s the one. A real impact player.

I actually just looked up his penn state highlights - dude was a baller. Proud to have had that Drummond in Detroit at one point!

The player he could be is a nice fit for the Warriors next year. The person that he is... not so much. Draymond would go bananas on him for being so inconsistent and defensively unpredictable. Don’t think GS will try it unless the market is so bad that they can get him for 15 mil or less.

Bet he opts in, then gets a 3/60 from some rudderless team the year after. Sacramento, New York, Charlotte, those types.

I expect the best he could hope for is about 4 years $80 million. He'll opt in, still thinking he'll get the max after that. Delusional.

I'm really glad the Cavs will be paying for him next year. He may be worth less than 4/80 after that year is up.

No way in the world he opts out of his opinion. It will be interesting to see how he fits or doesn’t with Cleveland this year

Is it too late to build around Drummond and Reggie?

Drummond opts in with Cavs, then gets 3 year, 45 million from someone.

He's gonna be working on that outside shot, it's his only way back to near max money. I predict he'll take less money to play for a contender, something like 2/20. I can see him on the Lakers in the Dwight role.

He opts in.

Kind of contract he gets is too dependent on how his next season with Cleveland goes.

Some might call that a cop out. Sure.

Drummond gives not a ringing endorsement of Cleveland, but rather a ringing endorsement of lots of money:

Yeah, it's going to be hard to give up, so you can count on me being in Cleveland still,” Drummond said. “ ... I definitely will be in Cleveland.”
