Wiretap article confirming it. It will be interesting to see how much money he gave up to get out of Detroit and on to a championship contender. He actually is a good backup PG he was just never good enough or healthy enough to be the main PG on a good team. He can be instant offense off the bench for someone though I'm sure and will have less troubles with defending backup PGs.

I've been hoping for a day with no Reggie or Dre for a while now and its finally here... I'm probably going to watch the rest of our games this season hoping to see more and more of the young guys (and hoping for Ls to land a top 3 pick).

Most likely just have the same amount of the prorated veteran's minimum because I'm sure that's all LA is giving him.

We have enough money under the tax to sign somebody else the ROS or just use 10-day contracts anyways. This was more about getting playing time for Brandon Knight if you can believe it - former Tellem client who needs to play to earn another contract in the league.

I don't think we sign Donta Hall, we have enough skinny bigs here. Unless it's to reward him for being an affiliate player or something. No need to sign Bone either unless we're running out of games we can use him in I guess. I'd rather use the open spot to take a look at outside of org players.

Khyri Thomas is due back, though probably should be in GR the ROS. Kennard supposed to be back around now as well.

Ideally probably take a look at a SF with the open spot

This is great news for the Pistons. I hope you guys are terrible next season, because the 2021 draft is going to be loaded.

Knight should be the next one to go. Sign multiyear deals to Bone and King.

Rose, Brown, Bone
Kennard, Galloway, Thomas
Svi, Snell, King
Sekou, Morris, Wood
Henson, Maker

I do as well except Wood should be first at center for the moment

glad he got bought out and has something to play for this season, i think he's finally been humbled enough to realize he's not a starting-calibre PG in this league. may as well come off the bench for a contender.

also, my god we're going to be terrible to finish the year. i really hope they're disciplined in limiting rose and kennard's minutes so they don't get injured. those two going into the offseason healthy should be priority #1b, assuming 1a is develop the young guns as much as possible (at the expense of wins :D )

knight will get an opportunity to play for a contract next season, he’s tellem’s former client, so I could absolutely see him doing a solid for BK.

I could be wrong, but didn’t the deadline for signing 2-way players to a standard contract this year already pass?

With Reggie’s buyout, 23 year old Luke Kennard is now the Pistons’ longest tenured player.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

While this move benefits Knight, I see this more as a message to the agents (and the players they represent) that the Detroit front office is willing to “do right” by the players.

About time. Scared for a sec that he was going to waste away his season here and unknowingly win us one or two meaningless game.

It's the best thing for everyone involved. Reggie goes to a contender and we get to watch the young guys and lose.
