Eh.

I know some people enjoy stuff like this, but to me it just makes both Wood and Drummond seem really immature.

This is odd as the best NBA players must be all immature to you then. From Bird to the modern guys.

All super competitive guys have that streak and I know I love it as it creates rivals and intensity.

Wood's probably right. Anyone disagree?

Yeah. I don’t see why arrogance and ego are celebrated in some walks of life and rightfully criticized in others.

If that makes me a weirdo I’ll gladly take the label.

not like swears and threats were exchanged back n forth that would've made it immature.

So Wood wants a max deal?

Wood is gonna be a hot commodity this summer and I think we'll get him for 18m a year

The biggest question is what's the salary cap going to be next year? Who has cap space? Getting rid of Drummond and sitting out Blake seems like a genius timing. It's going very well for the Pistons so far this season and I can't wait until we get the top 3 pick in the lottery. That'll seal the deal for a perfect year.

Knicks and Detroit will be in the bidding. ATL has Collins and added a Capela and Dedmon at the deadline.

If NY wants to overpay him to steal him - let him walk. Kid hasn't proven enough yet, and given his reported immaturity issues him in NYC with more money in his first two pay checks than he likely made his whole career to this point is a recipe for disaster.

I want him here, but I want him here with a fair deal. A 2-yr prove yourself deal would be best - 30M over two years shows the league what he really is, has him a UFA again at 26 yrs old and get us full bird rights after the contract. If he wants 60M or 80M from NYK, Congrats and enjoy NYC.

In two years time Blake would be expired as well. A shorter contract for Wood now probably means more in the long run if he really believes in himself. Dude could be a couple years from Max type money if he is all he believes he is. He won't get that now.

yeah I’m gonna have to disagree. pay whatever it takes to keep him. I’d hope that it’s below a max, but he’s going to be worth whatever contract he gets.

I suppose the starter’s minutes sample size is small, but the efficiency and rate at which he was producing is right along the lines of what he had been doing all season, if not better.

we’re forever clamoring for young all-star caliber talent to land in detroit. we have one literally fall into our lap, and you’re willing to just let him walk? nah chief, this ain’t it. this kid is the real deal, and exudes everything about Detroit basketball. he belongs here.

Is Drummond still opting out of all that money with the cap declining? Seems like a few teams might want one of Dre or Wood it will be interesting to see how it plays out if they are FA rivals. Could be good for us if Dre does opt out and takes up a spot where they might also have interest in Wood.

Hopefully he's right!

Starting a rebuild with him, Sekou, Brown, Luke & a top 5 pick is very good place to start.

Throw in Griff & Rose as "leaders".

Some teams take years to get to that point

You really need to lighten up.

Now of all times I would give folks a free pass. Everybody is stuck at home; away from their jobs; away from society. Nothing to really focus on. People are trying to figure out what to do with their lives.

I'd probably view this differently if the Pistons were in the middle of a season (or even during the offseason training) but the reality is that they aren't.

I'd bet he opts in. There's literally not a market out there for him other than really, really bad teams. Unless he really craves the NY night life. But NYK recently got a new front office so they might not even have AD0 on their radar to begin with, and with good reason.

He will re-sign. He was given the chance here and now he's taking advantage of it. He wants to be the star of the team and he's getting that opportunity.
