A nice article regarding Svi's progression this season, including some flattering praise from his teammates. I really enjoyed Svi's play as he was getting more PT. IMO, a player we should look forward to watching further develop.

He's certainly got a role moving forward as a shooter off the bench. Obviously has lots of room to develop on both ends but it seems he's a gym rat so that's a good start.

Hopefully Snell doesn't steal too many of his minutes next season.

Is it not payday for him next season along with Kennard and Brown?

Might have to be careful with our moneys this "offseason"

Snell was acquired as a means to acquire some size at wing while moving on from Leuer and adding a pick (which Stefanski blew in my opinion). Svi certainly seems to be earning the trust of the organization, so if they believe he deserves the minutes, he’ll get the minutes. Snell is on the last year of his deal, and certainly isn’t a factor in Weaver’s “restoration” of the team.

More reason to trade Luke for a pick in this Draft and get a reset on that rookie contract.

I think Svi & Brown on a good team have clearly defined roles. I don't think Luke Kennard does.

On a good team:

Is Luke a 6th Man scoring type?

Is Luke your #3 option?

Luke's lack of D and questionable health I'd rather move him on than either lose him for nothing (not matching a offersheet) or overpay to retain him (matching a offersheet)

At the very worst Svi is a shooter and possible playmaker off the bench and should come at a reasonable price

Come on. As a prospect svi <<<<<<<< luke. I'm not sold on luke, but he's we are asking if he can be a 3rd scorer, not a bench guy. Obviously, the cap is always in play, but we aren't talking about equivalent prospects.

I'm there with you. I do not wanna see Luke go but you gotta stay on the court.

Obviously the ceiling for Svi is probably what Kennard is now. Tough decisions to make.

What price do you want to pay - at the beginning of the rebuild - for your #3 option? At his best!

Keep in mind we don't have a #1 or #2 option.

Luke IS a better prospect than Svi but we're talking roles, price tags, moving forward as a roster.

In that situation I'm done with Luke Kennard and would happily trade him for a late lotto pick - 10 through 14 - if I could.

If Luke was consistently on the floor this would be tougher, but his injury history is making keeping him long term iffy at best. I don't know if late lottery pick is possible but a later first round pick in '21 or'22 seems OK. This rebuild is far from over.

Move on from Luke, and stop drafting shooters with limited athletic potential. Yes, it's a shooter's league, but it's also a guarding on the perimeter league.

I wouldn't offer Luke much, but I don't think we'll have to.

At the beginning of a rebuild, we need to target guys who might be starters on a competing team. Luke might be. I don't think he will be, but he might be. Svi is not. At best, he's a bench role player on a good team.

And of course everyone should be willing to trade luke for a lotto pick. Nobody is offering that though.

Call PHX up and see if they'd trade their FRP for Kennard. #10 in this draft for Kennard seems fair.

Svi>>>Luke

Both are rotation players. Svi’s got more upside. Luke can’t stay healthy. He probably won’t be on the team past the trade deadline.

How much do you think Luke could get as a RFA?

Cause to me that's the big issue. At the start if a rebuild I don't want us paying average starters "big" money when we could be using that space to take back "bad" contracts and taking fliers on kids.

Luke would likely have more trade value once he signs an extension. Other teams would be weary of bringing in a pending RFA, but if he's already locked up for a couple of years for appropriate money, there'll be a lot more teams asking for him

I think Luke would also want to get a deal done sooner since we don't know how much COVID will impact the financials for teams

I'm assuming we will get to keep two of Svi, Kennard, and Brown. I really like all three of them at their current contracts but once they hit the FA market it likely won't make sense to keep all three unless Brown proves he can be good getting increased minutes at PG.

I get the feeling weaver would have never drafted a luke or Henry freakin ellenson.

Luke has higher perceived value while svi was looking like the more confident shooter last season.

Luke is an 8th man on a good team and would like to see if Detroit could move him to a team picking in the 20s

You hope that Weaver would've drafted better than Ellenson -- Brogdon or Siakam, perhaps -- but that was a lousy draft. Maybe you hope that your GM is smart enough to realize that it's a lousy draft, dupe someone into a trade the pick for something good. :)

Malik Beasley and Caris LeVert were selected immediately after Ellenson. Either of those would have been excellent value on the #18 pick.

I've always wondered who SVG planned on drafting before Ellenson fell to him.
