Think King is gone or awarded a roster spot?

Probably gone. But he does have the length Weaver likes.

I don't see Sirvydis or King on the roster. I think free agency is going to shake out the end of the roster. I expect Lee to be a two-way contract with Jaylen Hands getting the nod over him, already having one year under his belt.

I had thought Philadelphia with no back-up to Embiid, but they're reportedly signing Nerlens Noel. There is so many veteran bigs available that would sign cheaply not sure who makes sense. Especially with the reports Weaver wants to open up cap space with moves.

I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Wood is the big issue - Weaver wouldn't have pared down the cap space to 9M unless he knew Weaver was going to a team with enough capspace and wouldn't match the offer.

I'd love a S&T for Wood, but Detroit can't even do that as he'll sign for more than 9M.

FWIW the Pistons are at $11.5 million in cap space after the moves today with no cap holds accounted for.

my free agency predictions for us:
Dedmon and Wood are involved in a 3 team trade, with Wood being S&T to the Celtics. We get a TPE and picks back.
Sign Jerami Grant to a short deal

Our roster sure would look good if Wood was on it though.

Given the Pistons current situation post-draft and now having a better feel for Weaver's mindset, I think this is a no-brainer. I'd bet on Weaver using the cap space to take on salary/picks in 2021 or 2022 so he can go crazy in another draft or two. It just doesn't make sense to me to target any established free agents when this team hasn't developed a core or an identity yet.

If the plan is to trade Rose (which it should be), I would look into signing Jeff Teague to a 1 year deal as a steadying veteran presence at PG. Might even be able to flip him to a contender for low level asset at the trade deadline.

Although, I don't think Teague will be real keen on signing with Detroit.

It feels like our FA spending might just be on minimum salary type younger guys that have bounced around the league a little bit.

Maybe try to find the next Christian Wood, someone who could blow up given a real chance in the league.

The key is to sign these guys to deals slightly above league minimum for 3 years (not guaranteed until certain dates) so we don't just lose them in FA a year later like we will with Wood.

Someone like Trey Burke would be a prime example, or someone similar to a player who has had a career path like Stanley Johnson, who is barely hanging on to their spot in the league and could be had for cheap, but still has some potential to improve and could break out given a real opportunity.

With this line up, I'm thinking we are sending out Woods and Dedmon and or Ariza for bad contract FRP picks coming back load up for 2021 let this young team grow while tanking and try to get Cunningham or green at SG

Current line up
Killian(19) / Rose / Lee / Jaylan
SVI(23) / Musa(21) / McGurder
Sekou(20) / Bay(21) / DEV(20)
Blake / Ariza
Dedmon / Stewart(19) / Roberts(23)

I think predicting Weaver free agency will doom you. I'll be refreshing hoopshype throughout the day with no idea what to expect. The one actual FA signing I think makes some sense and would be cheap is Dunn. A defensive minded one to balance Hayes. Other than that, I have nothing.

I was logging on expecting to see all kinds of league news. Didn't realize FA doesn't begin until 6 pm.

6PM FA starting is crazy it should open up at 3PM Eastern or maybe even 1PM. We're likely to get all types of announcements between 6PM and late into the night.

Currently our roster needs a starting 2-guard and veteran PG third stringer on a vets minimum.

We've already used a sizable portion of our cap space on obtaining draft capital.

There really isn't much reason to believe that won't continue.

Shoot, there's a chance another trade is announced around 6pm today to that effect, in connection with a free agent signing some other team is making. Not a sure thing, mind you, but it's not something that would surprise me.

I’m hoping they trade Dedmon and Ariza for cap space/picks and keep Wood. Getting fresh talent is fun but keeping talent the talent you developed is best in the long run (unless you are trading it for certified all-nba players or top 4 picks).

Developing and retaining talent is the name of the game. Tanking just to get assets makes no sense if you can’t build something that works with the assets that dropped into your hands.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

Giles and Josh Jackson should be our young targets.
