How much cap space do we have left after last night trades

$10.5 million.

There is still some conflicting reports as to how much of Trevor Ariza's contract is guaranteed. I've seen between $10 and $15 million for our projected remaining cap space not sure where it really lies. Hopefully we can get a beat reporter get the # from the team before FA begins tomorrow.

I think Pistons are closer to 17M.

I don’t think Cap Space is what we should be looking at. Weaver said he’s going to attack FA. Probably see trades made to make the money work with whoever he wants to sign.

If the draft showed us anything, he’s laying his balls out there this off-season.

If you take out all the cap holds and Maker's qualifying offer that leaves the team at $99,867,698 in committed salary with $9,272,302 in cap space.

If you take out all the cap holds, Maker's qualifying offer, and adjust Ariza's guarantee to $7.1 million like some of the media cap guys were suggesting last night that leaves the team at $94,167,698 in committed salary with $14,972,302 in cap space.

A lot depends on what happens with Ariza. I would be stunned if he stays at the full $12.8 million, at that point the Pistons might keep him, but taking a $5.7 million pay cut is quite steep too.

The $10 to $15 million # being thrown around for our capspace does depend on how we view Ariza and how much he is guaranteed.

I think we'd be foolish to just wave him unless only $7.1 million is guaranteed and then it would make some sense to a degree. That said, being in the last year of his contract and being a big expiring there is so thought as to keeping it as a tradable asset along with Snell. Some teams will be looking to cut more salary this year and/or dump longer term contracts so every contract we have helps us potentially match as trading partners to get more assets.

Even Blake's trade value increases as we move towards the trade deadline and he is healthy the first half of the season.... only have 1.5 years remaining on that deal would mean someone is more likely to take a risk on him.

I could see a rozier/batum for blake deal

But I think all these contract dates got pushed, so I think the 1.8 is still legit

They were saying something last night about how Ariza's contract has to be amended so more is guaranteed to make his trade from Portland to Houston legal in the Covington plus picks swap. It's not going to be $1.8 million for Detroit unfortunately. That's why the Rockets bought what should be a really late 2021 2nd round Lakers pick from the Pistons for $4.6 million. Helps covers some of the cash cost of Ariza's expanded guarantee.

And for what it's worth my numbers are different from Keith's because he has the team waiving Patton (I don't) and his cap hold for Wood is slightly lower. I think the team would have to renounce that cap hold anyways though since they wouldn't be re-signing him with his early bird rights.

Yep, that's rounded to what it is after the Ariza news. He's still probably going to be bought out and have a lower cap number but it won't be by much.

Selling the Lakers second rounder to the Rockets for 4.6 million makes sense now. That’s financial compensation for taking on Ariza on top of the pick swap.

9 mill in cap space isn’t enough to sign an impact player, but it may be enough to leverage in a trade that nets us some extra draft capital. That’s a good thing.

Is it possible he can be traded and get something like a young player or a pick? That is 12 million in cap space right there.

He was pretty bad last year. But to a contender that has an expiring maybe they would take a flier but probably wait for the buyout.

To me contenders will just wait for us to waive Ariza, Snell and Rose after deadline

The moves today simplified the cap sheet quite a bit. By renouncing all cap holds the Pistons will be working with $11,544,197 in cap space. That includes Wood's cap hold being renounced because I highly doubt he's signed using early bird rights.

Svi has the only contract that isn't fully guaranteed but nothing is happening on that front. His contract does guarantee on the 21st.

Will be interesting to see how the team plans to open up more cap space if moving Dedmon is going to be a part of that. Without him and Ariza Detroit has 10 players under contract and Lee as a two-way player (does not count against the cap). Excited for more moves.

He's literally the only person reporting this. Will be interested to see if true. Every other source is saying $1.8M dead cap hit.
