Weavers Fantasy Pistons team...

Post#1 » by SamFlow » Thu Nov 19, 2020 9:50 pm

I had a feeling we'd get 3 picks plus/minus one. - He got 4 picks.
I had a feeling we'd switch up half our team. - He's gone hog crazy.

Many of us have had fantasy basketball teams and went in and traded away the entire team.
Weaver is actually doing it with a real live basketball team.

I almost feel like the guy from Key and Peele who was Obama's anger management translator dude at the correspondents dinner.

Trade away the entire team Weaver we suck. Weaver starts trading away the entire team.
Yo weaver, I was just venting, I didn't mean trade them all away. lol
...

I wonder, with boston taking nesmith, if woods might be on his way there along with dedmon and us getting nesmith in some sort of deal.

Who knows, but this is exciting to finally move on from the last dreadful decade.

Where will Blake and Rose end up?

We had Blake, Rose, Snell, Brown, Kennard, Sekou, Thomas, and Svi coming back this year and now we only have 4 of those 8 coming back.

Feeling is its pretty unlikely those 4 will make it to training camp we probably will only end up with two of them here.

still got faith in Sekou. Love that he has a guy here with Killian. Svi, I like, but in the right deal.

Possible he will package Dedmon with Rose and get a player on a longer deal along with a pick of some sort.

Weaver is a fan’s dream come true. At least try. That’s all everyone on here as been asking for 10 years.

He has a plan. Very decisive. Those types make good leaders. It just has to work. But I love he is trying.

Stefanski deserves credit for clearing out Drummond and making Weaver's arrival and rebuild possible. I'd hate to think of what the team's future would look like if Drummond was still here. I doubt Weaver would have made the move here without the Drummond trade.

So what's his nickname?

Trader Troy? ... or Weaver & Dealer?

Agree that Ed deserves some credit for tidying up after SVG.

Weaver has come in swinging for the fences, clearing out the dead wood and it hasn't cost us anything significant.

We're now racing to the bottom at the right time as the next 2 Drafts appear loaded with "stars"...

With Stewart, Sekou, Bey & Hayes here the core is young and has loads of potential.

Bring on next season!

I would check up before praising Stefanski.

Ed made the Snell trade and all the ridiculous secondary moves after it. Ed signed Rose/Morris/Frazier last summer. Ed signed GR3/Calderon/Pachulia the summer before. And signed Wayne Ellington to finish the 18-19 season. Its clear, that Ed's intentions were to stay treadmill static for at least the first 1.5 years of his 2 year tenure

Ed traded Stanley for an extra year of Maker. Ed traded 2 2nds for Khyri thomas. Both these were bad moves.

The Bullock for Svi trade ended being solid
Bruce Brown was a good 2nd round pick

We'll see if Detroit can get anything of value for Rose making his signing worthwhile. I still like the Sekou pick and think he could pay off. But as of now the above 2 moves are the only clearly positive moves that Stefanksi made before the Dre trade.

I suspect it took Stefanski two years of treading water to get Gores acclimated to a real rebuild and end his infatuation with Drummond. Of course, it could be that we would have continued plodding along if Griffin, Rose and Kennard stayed healthy last season and we snuck in to an eighth seed.

That team and mentality are now thankfully history.

I'm not so sure Stefanski's intentions were ever to engineer a rebuild. I say so because now that we are actually entering a rebuild Ed is no longer in the driver's seat. It has been reported that Ed was intended to just be the placeholder all along, in which case you could look at his tenure 2 ways. 1) He didn't really do much to harm the future while entering a rebuild or 2) He didn't really do much to help the future entering a rebuild.

So for me Stefanski's tenure will be graded as a "meh" at best.

I love it. As has been stated, maybe it doesn't work out; it's possible all these new players go bust. But at the very least, the effort was made to put together nearly an all new team and get out of the funk of the past.

The fact that Weaver did all the maneuvering in this supposed weak draft really makes me optimistic for the future. No more of these underwhelming drafts where we just get our one guy and then it’s all over.

Just doing anything somewhat exciting makes you better than the usual stiffs that become GMs around here and I’m all for it.

He's legitimately more active than me when I used to play franchise mode in 2k and browse through the trade generator. Dunno if it will pan out but it's refreshing to see a GM really trying to put their imprint on the franchise.

You're not going to be able to move Blake until the deadline. And that's if he's healthy & playing well.
