Man, that post has my head spinning.

What a convoluted and poor way to lay out the trade by whoever wrote that.

So we traded all the second round picks in that deal?

Why in the heck did we have to give 3 future 2nd round picks and Kennard to get #19. This deal just gets worse and worse.

the 2nd round is easy enough to buy or trade back into each year..Jaylen Hands is a nice scoop tbh.

Yeah, WOAH man.

2024, 2025, 2026 second round picks for Bey? Now that is pretty damn steep man. Like seriously? Is this correct because before it was just Kennard for Bey.

EDIT

So we had to add three 2nd round picks and got Jaylen Hands too? This is looking pretty bad, honestly.

For Detroit

Out: Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown, Justin Patton, 2023 2nd (Portland), 2024 2nd (Detroit), 2025 2nd (Detroit), 2026 2nd (Detroit)

In: Saddiq Bey, Dzanan Musa, Rodney McGruder, Jaylen Hands, 2021 2nd (Toronto), cash

We gave up 4 second rounders and received 2 (if you include Hands).

The ones we're shipping out are generally better than the ones we are taking in. We'll probably look to purchase future second rounders. It's also possible the Dedmon or Ariza contracts could be used to restock future picks.

Hold up. They traded FOUR!!! 2nds including three of their own in addition to Kennard for #19? That is inexcusably horrendous if true. Like Weaver you're a **** idiot level of horrendous.

Wait so Detroit traded Brown & Kennard & 3 of their own 2nds for #19/Musa/Hands/'21 Toronto 2nd?

And Detroit took back McGruder?

Never liked the Brown trade, and this certainly changes the Kennard trade. Hands is basically nothing, probably Detroit's other 2 way player with Saben Lee

May want to call off the crowning of Troy Weaver

We got Toronto's 2021 SRP, but traded the Utah 2023 Pick (Last remaining pack from trading #30 OA to Cleveland last year) as well as Detroit's second rounders in '24, '25, '26. So Detroit gave up a net three more second rounders.

Scrubb went to the Clippers.
No mention of McGruder though. Was he not included afterall? Maybe that explains the extra SRP's. As it would free up $5M under the cap this off-season.
Nevermind, I'm blind.

McGruder is mentioned at the bottom.

We also received some cash. Always hate deals where we receive cash. It implies the deal otherwise isn't good for us, but the owner gets some extra green for it.

This isn't a deal breaker for me as far as Weaver's overall vision. We'll have to see what else happens. It's not good if true though. Our cupboard was already pretty barren in terms of second rounders.

As we saw with the Utah trade though, acquiring second rounders on draft night isn't exactly hard. The issue is they now can't be used as trade chips during the season.

I thought our days of constantly throwing in 2nd rounders were over I was starting to think we finally realized there is some value in keeping these. Mehmet Okur, Middleton, Dinwiddie, Brown, etc you can find NBA players in the second round you just don't hit every year.

People here calling Weaver an “idiot” for dealing 2nd round picks we can just buy if we get into a spot where we need them.

Let the man do his job. No one here even knows what he’s doing tomorrow. But it looks like he’s pushing for something.

You can’t panic when we’ve been bad for 12 years folks.

Hope you’re right about McGruder KG, that would be nice if we got out of that money.

I thought they got the Toronto 2nd in the Brown deal.
If I read that tweet correctly, it's essentially #19 and Hands for Kennard, Portland '23 2nd and the Pistons '24-'26 2nds. Kennard+4 2nds for Bey and Hands.

so we also get Jaylen Hands, and draft consideration (whatever that means)
