Predict the Opening Night Starters......

Post#1 » by ByeByeDre » Tue Nov 24, 2020 2:27 am

Based on all we know about our awesome organization, who do you think will start opening night?

My picks:

Rose
Wright
Grant
Blake
Plumlee

Plumlee
Blake
Grant
Jackson
Hayes

Blake gives Hayes someone to run the offense through which helps the kid adjust to the pace of the game.

Rose first off the bench for Plumlee as we go small with Grant shifting to the 5, Jackson to the 3, Hayes to the 2. Rose now takes over running the offense, allows Hayes to play off the ball and not have to be so dialed in under a bit of fatigue.

Sekou next off the bench for Jackson at the 3.

Bey next for Blake as Sekou shifts to the 4, Bey at the 3.

Wright in for Hayes.

Stewart in for Grant at the 5.

DRose now out there with Wright, Bey, Sekou & Stewart...

Kinda like that idea. Doubt it goes that way since Svi likely to get in there somewhere, probably instead of Jackson or Wright

Hayes, Svi, Grant, Griffin, Plumlee.

I doubt they'll start Rose, particularly as he's a horrendous fit with Griffin. They'll want to give Hayes maximum exposure for the sake of his development. He'll probably play quite a few minutes away from Griffin, too.

Rose didn't start last year until we had absolutely no other options- Casey clearly likes him off the bench.

Bruce Brown started at POINT GUARD over him.

Add to that the fact that it's also possible he's not on the team at the start of the season, and yeah.

Locks: Blake (assuming he's able), Grant, Plumlee

Guards? That's anyone's guess.

As Snake mentioned Casey does seem to prefer Rose off the bench and Blake (if healthy) is a lock to start. Casey also seems to place a big premium on defense.

So I'll go with:

Wright
Bey
Grant
Blake
Plumlee

Agree that if Casey prefers Rose off the bench, Wright will start at PG. I highly doubt Casey ever starts Hayes this season, unless injuries to other guys force his hand. We have veteran PGs here who he will always start ahead of the rookie.

I was tempted to make it Wright/Svi or even Wright/McGruder, but after the free agency follies, I sense there’s a playoff or bust mentality from above. Thus, Casey gives max minutes to those he trusts, as well as the big free agents. So I think Rose gets the nod.

Before a list, a point. If anyone else other than Hayes starts at PG, ill lose my mind.

Hayes
Wright
Sekou
Blake
Plumlee

I woukd rather Bey, and Stewart start but Casey won't do that when it should be obvious.

Oh well. I'll watch for the rookies, and turn it off for the 8th seed run.

I can guarantee Hayes won’t start at PG on opening night, if at all during this, his rookie season.

Opening night, Casey won't start a rookie. Didn't we go through this with Sekou last year? And especially this year, with very little pre-season prep time. Hayes will start before too long, but not right off the bat.

Plumlee
Griffin
Grant
Svi
Rose

Yeah, Hayes ain't starting. If Casey likes Rose off the bench he'll start Delon Wright at point. He has history coaching Wright in Toronto.

I'll go with

Rose
Jackson
Grant
Griffin
Plumlee
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland

No way is Josh Jackson starting opening night. I'd be more surprised to see that than I would Hayes.

This. They're gonna see what they got in Rose/Griffin in the hope of being the 8 seed.

Then Casey should be **** fired, immediately.

Enough bull. This team is crap, you start the prospects. Earning playing time is for teams with a chance. Bad to horrendous teams, and certainly ones as poorly run, and owned get high draft picks for hope of a better player.

If Hayes doesn't start, it's an indictment of Gores, Weaver, amd Casey and their collective incompetence. He better start.

We go through this every year. If any rookie is starting opening day I’ll eat crow.

With such a short ramp up to the season I expect Casey to lean on veterans to get the ball rolling, even more than usual. I see Rose continuing to come off the bench and Hayes getting worked in gradually until Rose is traded.

Griffin
Plumlee
Grant
Wright
Svi
