Any word on Hayes’ injury? Is this an injury that he’ll be able to bounce back from with ease? No long-term effects?

Was wondering if it’s an injury he can bounce back from and still live up to being our long-term starting PG or will this injury stunt his abilities?

Pistons havent released anything new about it. It could be a minor thing that he comes back this season from(not likely) or something that takes longer to recover from. The good news is hes younger so better chance he recovers fully compared to a guy like IT2 where he was never the same.

To me, we should focus on Cade as the first pick. He can be SG next to Hayes and share with him PG duties. Suggs is too me of a PG to me, will not be very complimentary to Killian. But that's if we get the first pick... I played the lottery 10 times on tankathon, Pistons were never first...

Si recent mock

https://www.si.com/nba/2021/01/20/nba-mock-draft-2021-latest-first-round-projections

Obv it has us taking Cade. Kuminga at 3. They reference the fact it looks like a strong top five as many have. As long as we have worst record worst case we get get a potential star.

I've hit the tankathon mock draft many times, and we move down every time. Hopefully those are reverse jinxs and they are all tapped out.

According to NBA Math Hayes was/is one the worst 5 players in the league. You pick as if Hayes doesnt exist. Maybe he becomes a 6th man if we get really lucky. People don't go from the worst guy in the league to superstar. He will improve, but he can't even dribble right now, along with a potentially career ending/changing injury.

If the best player at our pick is a PG, you go with it and put Hayes on the bench where he should have been to start this season.

Well ideally, if we got Cade, you’d like them to be able to start next to each other long-term.

But yeah, in the extremely limited amount of time we got to see Hayes, he was less than good.

But remember, he was still a 19 year old kid who didn’t have a normal training camp and/preseason.

I’m hoping his injury doesn’t limit him and he’s able to develop further

Nobody ever said Hayes had superstar potential, at least not on this board. My best case scenario for him was always like a Dragic type.

Either way theres no position we pass on at the top if we land a top 3 pick and right now I think Cade is the #1.

Come on man, it's way WAY too premature to say that Hayes will never be a quality starter based on a tiny sample size of rough games to start his career.

With that said, the Pistons should draft BPA even if it is a PG. Suggs is my favorite player in this draft class and I certainly wouldn't not draft him just because Hayes plays the same position.

I guess I'll flip between FSU and Dukes games today cause Scottie Barnes and Jaylen Johnson have been playing well lately and they could both be good back up plans if we end up in that 5 or 6 pick range.

I actually REALLY like the idea of pairing Hayes with another PG.

Hayes
Cade

Or

Suggs
Hayes

Just hope that Hayes improves his outside shooting abilities enough that we could make that work

I feel like Cade is fine at the 2 anyways as where Suggs and Hayes seem more like strictly PGs. Either way we make it work and Hayes will just have to fit in where he can seeing as he hasn't shown much of anything yet.

Think their simulator is wrong as I've done it 10 times each day the last 3 days and we slip to 5th 7 times out of 10 each day.

That's some funky "luck"
