Supermax for Gobert is a awful idea but he gone now too. That loaded FA class is gonna end up with a guy like Drummond being the top FA

Eh- there's no way he was getting less than that.

It's the peril of having a star player who isn't a top 10 player- they're still getting that contract just like the top 10 player does. It is what it is.

By the way, it's not actually a supermax deal, it's a few percentage points of cap below that I believe.

He's definitely a very valuable player.

Hes good and I could handle giving him around 30 mil per year for his rim protection but hes not worth no 40 mil per year type contract.

That 2021 free agency class looks worse and worse now

Not that it mattered to us since even if we had a max slot available no one significant would come here.

Need the next 2 years to go right before we even hope for a big free agent or a trade that will matter

I just generally think most people have an unrealistic expectation of what these guys command on the market now.

30 million would be an absurd steal for Gobert in the current climate.

Giannis, Mitchell, Tatum, Gobert, Lebron, George, Adebayo all off the market now.

I like it, just ups the chances that Blake opts out this summer. There is going to be scads of available cash this summer, and teams will spend it on somebody. If he stay's mildly healthy this season, Blake's potential market is looking better and better.

Hell yeah, Blake go get you a multi-year deal from a contender. You know you want to.

Jeez, even Markelle Fultz got 3/50. What is this, everybody gets a contract day?

With Kennard needing that extension I’m even more okay with that trade now.

Yeah, I'm in the boat that any concern about free agency offerings are two years premature. Keep developing the young kids, draft well, and build something worthy of drawing/adding a top free agent. As I posted many times, my belief is that the free agent gap fill/big star signing (if one of the young kids hasn't already developed into that big star) is the last "put us over the top" step.

The evidence is already there relative to bringing top names to your team. You need:
1. Money
2. The chance to win a championship right away.

The idea that players are dismissing opportunities based on geography just isn't based in logic. Greek Freak just committed long term to the Bucks and while I've literally spent more time in Milwaukee than any other place in the world besides my home town and love it there, it's still Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That sure as s**t wasn't about geography; it was about 1 and 2 above.

I'd rather have Gobert at 5 years $200 million than Drummond at 5 years $150 million.

That said, I agree its going to hamper that team a bit unless the new owner for Utah is fine going into the luxury tax. If he doesn't mind pay the tax, it shouldn't really hurt them too much.

I think it’s safe to say that we won’t get any wins against Brooklyn this year.

Yeah, healthy Brooklyn is a deep team with a lot — a whole lot — of shooting talent. No doubt they’ll win a lot of regular season games. Will still want to see them against a good defensive team in a playoff series, but they have shot creation out the wazoo.

If Kyrie and Durant play like that most nights, Miami, Bucks, Celtics will have a tough time with Brooklyn.

Their bench is really good, better than the Pistons starting lineup.

Its really early, but I agree Brooklyn is looking like they might be the team to beat in the East.

The Nets looked really really good. Very deep too.

Of course, the Warriors looked awful, especially defensively. Need to try not to extrapolate too much.

Andrew Wiggins looked *terrible* in the parts I was able to watch. He's generally been a net negative but there was a stretch of turnovers, fouls, and poor shot selection where he was single-handedly dismantling his team. Yikes.

A bunch of Rockets including Harden, Wall and Cousins have to sit out game 1 due to Covid protocol.... Can just see Wood dropping 40 and 15 tonight with the Rockets getting the W against OKC.

One day in and one game already "postponed". Not looking good folks.
