So that makes 3 guys that Weaver has made moves to get, just to end up paying them to go away.

No that I particularly care about or have any hopes for either guy, but this just makes the Sirvydis signing all the more stupid. Why sign Sirvydis who is years away from being anything, when you hold his rights anyways, which results in needing to waive a guaranteed contract just to fit him into the roster?

Weaver's feel for/management of the salary cap is downright scary.

Yeah I'm a little disappointed we didn't take a longer look at Musa. He seems like a guy with some upside if he improves his shooting. Like Pistons888 said this makes the Bruce Brown trade even worse. It seems Weaver just didn't like Bruce Brown enough to commit a rotation spot going forward. I guess I'm ok with it as long as some of these guys he kept / signed / drafted actually pan out.

On a side note, how the heck are we planning on developing Sirvidys anyway? He is probably not sniffing the floor in the regular season and the G-league might not even happen for us. Maybe we just want him working out and training with the team and coaches? He does look like he needs to get a lot stronger.

Well, there's goes the Musa train into another waive pile up ahead. Another casualty to the Weaver waive spree

It seems like we had a net gain of a whole nothing when all said and done

Ellington signing get weirder when decision is to keep McGruder. Maybe Musa could be signed to a 2-way deal - not sure if there restrictions against that. I assume there would be better 2-way players, and Detroit could probably use a PF with that second spot.

I’m really not sure what Weaver is doing. Looking like Presti WAS the entire front office mind in OKC. Weaver was just along for the ride.

With the amount of love that Bruce Brown is being shown by the Nets at the moment, we could probably get him back for that second round pick.

Does Detroit even own that Toronto 2021 SRP anymore? I just assume it was already traded away.

The Kings waived Frank Kaminsky. The Pistons center rotation is already underwhelming, so may as well at least add one that can shoot from outside.

While it all could have been handled better, none of this trade or cut matters in the slightest for the development of the team. Pistons took on a lot of feelers for players with talent but underwhelming results. They can up with one gold nugget so far, Jackson. That's actually doing really well.

So we have two 2-way contract spots open now, right? I’d have to think all of this is to get a couple guys in that were cut from other teams we value more.

I don't know about you but when I start a new job I would try my hardest to not mess up even the smallest things. This has not been the worst offseason by any stretch but sure has been the sloppiest one. We let go our (objectively) best player for nothing and overpaid a couple of stiffs. Traded for a bunch of guys just to waive them. Drafted 3 guys in the first round and gave 10 mins to one and 6 mins per game to the other on preseason.

I just don't find this funny?

It's just another case where we frittered away resources in a manner that could have been avoided. These add up.

Musa is a lot better than Sirvydis. Weird. I'm thinking maybe Musa and his agent asked the team to trade him or let him go once he realized he's going to be buried on the bench again.

What resources? Brown?

We moved a dude that isn't all that special for a look at a guy who had some potential.

Jackson playing so well is why Musa is gone

Would rather invest in Frank than Okafor, much more potential to become an effective NBA role player
