Blake + Ellington + Miami's choice of Wright or Plumlee

for

Iggy, Olynck, Leonard, and Avery Bradley

This pushes them back into competing for a championship this year assuming Blake can stay healthy and give them his best. Would suck to lose Wright or Plumlee just for being able to get us out of the Blake deal a year early but its likely worth it unless he would accept a buyout of 50% of his salary next year.

Blake will push Miami back to championship! Really!
Then it will be best for Detroit to keep him and his massive salary.

You have no need for our bloated contracts and neither will you give us an early out of Blake's to do for practically free

Rest assured, a deal likely won't happen with you all. You guys are saving up for when Beal decides to be on the market after all star break anyways

Zero trades worth doing out there for Blake. Just a matter of how much money he still gets. I'm guessing he gets 90% of his paycheck and it doesn't really give us any significant room under the cap next summer.

Smart move would have been to hold him to the deadline in hopes a team gets desperate like we were. Not likely but would have been worth waiting a few more weeks.

He should have been playing if the intent was to trade him. If Pistons were fine with buying him out, there was no risk of injury issue.

And there it is. Not surprising to most there was no trade. Now we wait to see what terms were....

More to chew on for those with the position that there was a missed opportunity by not working out a trade instead of a buyout:

Anyone who thought otherwise should just delete their account. Nobody was taking on that salary without a big asset attached.

Not sure how anyone could believe there was actually a reasonable offer to consider for Blake.

Dude looked washed af, had a monster contract, certainly wasn't going to decline his player option, didn't want to be here BUT still played his part as a pro.

We should all be thankful Weaver convinced Gores to pay him out.

There were definitely some here that thought there could be a deal...

Maybe if he was a true expiring contract instead of the player option the next year, but 36-38 million to match is fairly hard for any GM to match in this day and age, washed or not

I can’t fathom any trade we could’ve pulled off. I’m just happy that we have two games against them in the next 2-3 weeks.

I don’t think he’ll be great for them and I don’t see how his skills are needed by them, but it should at least be interesting.

My guess is they're going for a "Just be able to outscore the opponent at every position" model.

I can't imagine many Nets fans have been watching Pistons games to really understand how limited this Blake Griffin is. I feel like the Nets already have one big that is overvalued and way past his prime with Jordan, so I can imagine some frustration with having two. That said, having three of the best players in the league offsets a lot of things.
