Eh.

That's about what I expected. I thought getting our own pick back seemed too rich.

It goes a slight way towards restocking our second rounders- I guess that's okay.

That’s a lot of negatives for Troy. Grant, Bey, Stewart are the positives.

This rebuild is going to take much longer the way Weaver has traded. Big disappointment. Feels he caves to much in these trades...NY already had two 1st rd picks. The fact you could not get your second back and basically got nothing for Rose ( your only tradable asset left) is not helping this rebuild at all.

Too late to throw in Ellington and Okafor to get both the CHA 2nd and our own 2nd from them?

Trade Machine says 7 less wins going from Rose to DSJ so there is that.
Weaver = Hinkie
VW to Portland

We probably wasn't even going to win 7 more games.

Maybe this trade will reverse our Lakers win earlier in the season to a loss!

It's pretty obvious Weaver can be fleeced and the Knicks took a turn. He should have walked away from this deal. At this point he has SUCKER written across his forehead.

It is as I said before.

You can't get much for an asset teams know is going to be free in time for the playoffs. We absolutely were buying him out if we couldn't find a good deal.

At this point they largely had no choice but to take whatever they could get- the Knicks were in a position where they want Rose for more wins right now, whereas a team like the Clippers would have been content to wait to add him for a playoff run later. The Knicks knew we were their only shot at getting anything for him- the Clippers or another solid playoff team had no incentive to offer a thing.

They had us over a barrel. If we wanted something of value we had a better shot last season.

I don't think Weaver deserves hate here. He wanted to do right by Rose and the market forces were pretty clear here in terms of what we could get. We didn't have any leverage to get a better deal done.

The biggest thing is, DRose has the ability to take over some games and get some Ws. I like we get a prospect that could end up being something. I would have been happy with our 2nd rounder back I'm mildly disappointed we aren't getting it but I think overall its a positive for the youth movement to move on from DRose.

I still see and think the Knicks are about to see Rose as a negative player. His peak defense was below average, and he's now just bad, plus the uptick in turnovers, the fact he plays hero ball zeroing out his teammates save the last second pass. I hope he gets a little career shift out of this - back with Thibs, enjoying the media spotlight in the Big Apple.

Weaver was not "fleeced." It's not that the haul for Rose is enticing - it isn't. Smith will most likely stay a bust, and the second round pick will go like most second round picks - out of the league in two years. It's that Rose isn't any good save for a few stretches of hero ball awesomeness. You're trading him out of respect for him. Pistons's street cred with players is way more important than a slightly higher second round pick.

Rose wasn’t having a very impressive season either- a clear step back from last year.

Good for rose he need to be on a team competing to win

We get to see what DSJ got to offer these last 40 plus games and for some strange reason I think he’s gonna do good

I haven’t seen DSJ play in a while but I think he’ll fit right along with our attempt to resurrect the careers of semi young players
