MIP: Jerami Grant

Jerami would be the first Piston ever to win the award and it would be the first individual award since 2006 when Ben won the DPOY.

It is kinda a big deal considering the Pistons situation.

We should have be signed him for more years.

No way, trade that man stat!!! We don’t want no improved players around here when we could get more draft picks that may possibly (not likely) end up being almost as good as him.

We could have only signed him for four years, but if he was coming here wanting a situation where he could improve and take his game to another level, it likely was him that only wanted a three year deal. Reportedly we had interest in FVV at 4 years $80 million before turning to Grant so most likely it was Grant feeling he'd be in his prime and ready to sign a bigger deal in 3 years. We will have his bird rights so we could give him any amount without having to have cap space.

This should be a runaway vote if he keeps this up. Role player to 24/5/3? And in his 7th year?

Love Jerami. He’s got a classic piston demeanor. No ego, just works. Great leader for the young guys to follow.

If you watched the way that Pat Williams played for Chicago last night it was the same thing. Both remind me a bit of Kawhi. Its all business.

It's his to lose at this point. He's been proving me wrong going from a role player to basically a scoring machine that's similar to how Paul George sometimes looked

Surprised he hasn't won a player of the month

He's got it in the bag. Its the first leg of a multi bet I've got going.

MIP- Jerami Grant
ROTY- Lamelo
MVP- Lebron
DPOTY- Rudy

They should just pay that out now.

Also got Jerami at $13 for MIP early days, put a $20 down- pay the man already!! haha

yeah there's been a lot of players make jumps this season but it's hard to call anyone but grant the frontrunner.

crazy to think the signing was largely scoffed at when it happened but grant turned into a borderline all star and a bargain. things like that never happen to the pistons so it's still kind of surreal lol.

Imagine how good the Nuggets would have been if they let Jerami fill somewhat of the same roll.

His biggest competition here might be Christian Wood.

Only if he can stay healthy. But yeah, this is otherwise true since he didn't have a big enough window of starts last year...

There just aren't enough shots to go around over there; so I don't think that it would have been plausible.

Jokic takes 18 per game, Murray 16, MPJ 11. If you're Denver you probably don't want to take away any of these. So in order for Grant to get his he likely has to be off the bench while these folks sit. And that's precisely why he left to come to the Pistons in the first place.

Grant has shot > 50% in only 4 of his last 30 games. His case for the award came to a grinding halt once February started.

MIP award race is going to be a battle between Julius Randle and Christian Wood. Wood has made the biggest strides in terms of a production/numbers standpoint but Randle has been the catalyst for helping his team become relevant for the first time in a long time.

Chris Boucher will garner some votes as well.

We should change the topic to MIA: Jerami Grant.

Everyone being so high on him and not wanting to trade him at the deadline when his value was the highest it will ever be has aged poorly. Who knew that giving a career roleplayer a higher usage rate so they could put up unsustainable numbers didnt actually change the human being into a better basketball player for the rest of their life?

So the rest of Grant's career is already over?

Should go to Randle especially with the Knicks finally being a competitive team. Wood is a freak but Houston is God Awful, Grant has no chance now.
