First half of the season thoughts

In my opinion they have exceeded my expectations in having both the long-term view in short term view. The youth and incoming players have been very entertaining to watch. I have watched more games this year already then the past three combined instead of just following box scores.

Pluses: Actually playing the rookies and them being productive is huge, Grant grant grant, Plumlee, Great attitudes, building a culture, traded rose, Blake sitting

Minus: Hayes injury and subsequent pause on any development, Sekou, winning against top teams.

All in all they far exceeded my expectations of competing every game and playing our youth. Hopefully we can continue developing that youth and stay in the bottom 3 for seasons end. The future looks brighter than recent years without a doubt.

I watch as many games as I can- Pistons junkie!! There just seems to be a different vibe associated to us this year which I think can be attributed to the FO.

Moves that had to be made were, Rose & Blake. The vision for the future is clearer and more defined. Let the youts play and let’s see what we really have on our roster.

Always going to have set backs ie Hayes injury, Sekou seeming regression. That’s part of the game, you roll with the punches.

Positivity creates positivity, overall I feel good about the season so far. Optimism all around. Dream scenario would be landing Cade in the draft though... I’m just like a little kid...

My thoughts:
- Bey is a solid shooter with a great body he needs to learn how to use. Great value, he would go Top10 if the draft would take place now.

- Stewart looks promising and I love how serious he has been in improving his body. It is awesome to see the physical change that he had in few months. Another great pick.

- Svi has improved a lot his defense, he is not a great defender but he is not a liability anymore. However, his shooting has had up & downs due to bad shooting selection.

- Hayes showed glimpses of good passing and defensive skills but he was terrible at attacking the rim. On top of that, he ended up with a serious injury. By now, it looks like a bad pick but he is really young to turn things around.

- Plumlee, Ellington, and Wright have been great additions and have increased their value from the moment we got them.

- Grant is the best signing of the year. Great contract with an amazing performance. Weaver risked it but got a home run in him.

- Lee is another great surprise for a second-round pick. High IQ, good defender, quick first step, and getting more confident on himself. His size and length probably are the only things that keep him from having a higher ceiling.

- Dennis Smith Jr looks more promising than I could have expected. I got zero confidence in him but he can develop into a good back-up PG.

- Sekou is the confirmation of a disappointment. He has had a regression, he is slower, shooting worse, and shows no feel for the game. If he was not 20 y/o, he would be considered a bust. By now, he only brings offensive rebounding and unstable shooting. He has time to change that but it does not look promising.

- Finally, I can see that Weaver has done great since the value of the team is way higher than it was before he was hired. So kudos to him for an amazing scouting job and gambling on the right people.
