I would try and get Bagley from them for something else though. No Grant, No Bey, No Hayes.

Let's make a deal Sacramento!

Would you trade Plumlee and Sekou and a 2nd Bagley?

Would you trade Plumlee and Hayes for Bagley?

Not Hayes but I would do Plumlee, Sekou and a 2nd. Not high on Bagley but for that price why not?

I'd be interested to see what the other pieces of the proposed trade were. Detroit would have needed to need 4-6 mil in salary in addition to Saddiq to get a legal trade for Bagley.

I'm assuming it was DSJ, or McGruder. However, Sacto is already at roster limit of 15 players, so I would think they would have wanted to send someone else so they didn't have to cut & eat a contract.

Whatever the full proposal was, I doubt it would have been attractive to Detroit. I'm just curious as to what the entire trade looked like.

I saw somewhere that Weaver also had interest in Allen.

I gotta say, these rumors don't make much sense. Gordon, Oladipo, Bagley, Allen, even Collins even though he's the best of the bunch. The Pistons need scorers, shooters.
Then again, Weaver just seems like the type of GM that has his hands in everything so this could just be due diligence.

Add stewart to that list. Not sure if the kings would want anybody else.

Gives some sense of where Weaver values Bey.

I too am glad he turned it down.

Sekou+Plumlee looks as a fair package. Even a third team can be involved to take Plumlee and send something else to the Kings.

Let's not make the mistake of undervaluing Bagley as he is already pretty good, and will only get better hopefully. Sacramento is in flux right now and if the Pistons have to send out some assets to do it, you do it. Bey just exploded quickly but suppose he didn't get playing time, and didn't prove himself,

Who turns down the the trade then? Not many I think.

You don't give up on a player like Bagley quickly but this is what Sacramento is doing. They are vulnerable and I hope Weaver pursues another avenue.

I mentioned it in the Trade/Transaction post:

Let's get Bagley - Kings dont want to pay him. Next year is the last year of his rookie contract and he probably wants to get paid.

He makes $9 million this year and $11 million next year.

His hand is broken and likely out this year. So its a hard deal for everyone, but those are the deals that a smart GM can win. The Kings dont want to pay him, period. What will he want for his long term contract? $15 million a year? Would he be worth that?

He will make $11 million next year. Is he worth $11 million?

EDIT

Obviously not Bey for Bagley. But what do they want? Wright, Plumlee? Josh Jackson?

Even if Saddiq was buried somehow, I’d still pass. For where we are at, it just seems like to desperate of a move.

If Stewart was buried, I would consider that.

I wouldn’t mind adding Bagley but not for Bey. I’m sure that it was an easy turn down for Weaver. I’d be up for Seku and McGruder for Bagley. I’m just don’t giving up a lot for one year of Bagley with a broken hand. He’s a 5 and not a 4 in my eyes. We’d need to ship out Plumlee to make it work.

Bagley has had 3 seasons of averaging 13+ PPG and 7+ RPG and has added a three point shot this year. I think 100% he is the type of person that you try to add to a rebuilding team to see if you can turn things around for him here.

I'd trade for him but not at the cost of giving up Bey, Grant, Stewart or a future first. Hayes to me could be moved if we can get back a better young prospect. I like Lee enough that I feel like Hayes might have a hard time beating him out in the rotation.

Bagley is really bad on defense. Good thing we turned down that offer.

Bagley has had a string of injuries over his short NBA career that are a red flag to me. Knee, back, broken thumb, wrist, both feet and now the broken hand. Not much chance to develop when a player can't practice or play.

yeah bagley's in a weird zone where he has some talent but he's not talented enough to carry an offense, mix of PF/C in the sense that he has pretty big weaknesses at both spots, etc.

i'd be okay taking a chance on him if he was a FA and we had to pay like $5 mil/year (similar to what we're paying josh jackson) but considering his salary is about double that and we'd have to give up positive assets for him i'm glad we passed on trading for him.

I wouldn't mind Bagley if we trade a vet like Delon Wright (or Mcgruder) + Sekou. I think Bagley has more potential than Sekou and we don't really need Delon going forward.
