I mean we now have 3 2nd round picks for this draft..capitol to move up if we want. Getting any value for Delon is a win for me. Kings are kind of a random trade partner though lol

Was hoping to somehow get a late 1st for him even if it wasn't realistic.

Wright/Plumlee/Ellington you take best available offer for any of them. The idea is be as bad as we can the rest of the way these are the guys that can go.2 2nds are better then 1!

True the tank is what matters and Wright was actually pretty decent.

Cojo's contract is only guarantees for 2.4 mill next year so we are saving almost 7 mill and helping the tank, and getting a couple of seconds. Would have liked a late first but all in all a positive trade

I would have actually preferred to keep him for that package, but I understand why the deal was made. If it was two Kings 2nds it would have certainly been a bit more appealing than a package with a 2021 Laker's 2nd rounder which will be between 52 and 55 most likely. Lakers have some injuries for some, but still unlikely to get a rotation player that far back.
When I was it was to the Kings I was really hoping we'd be getting Bagley but I know that's certainly a pipe dream without including a better asset going back.

If Lee was a lot worse, or Hayes didn't have a #7 pick used on him, or DSJ looked awful in his minutes I think Wright likely would have stayed but overall I think this move was made partly to ensure Hayes gets back on the court and into the rotation and that Lee also doesn't get buried away in no man's land.

Copy/pasting my GB post regarding the reasons for the trade:
1. Delon Wright is too good for someone that doesn't fit with the timeline. He's a very competent PG who has probably won us some games. Less likely that we'll win down the stretch with Cojo, DSJ, Saben Lee, and Killian Hayes (if/when he returns from injury). There is an upper echelon of draft talent this year and Detroit does not want to miss out on that.
2. Draft Capital. Remember where Weaver comes from. While he may not have the same draft pick fetish that Presti has, he definitely likes using picks in a shell game type of way. He's been sending out 2nd round picks since he got here and now he's restocking. I feel like he believes 2nd round picks can be more valuable in trades than on actual picks.
3. Save money. Makes the boss happy and adds flexibility for next year.
That said, I'll miss having Delon Wright on the team. Seems like he helped build the new culture by playing the right way and he's sneaky good.
I'm also worried about Cojo being a Casey guy due to their time together on the Raptors. That could pose a road block to the youth movement (although it may work well for the tank).

I wonder where the Kings FO thinks their 2024 2nd will land.
The Lakers 2021 2nd? Is what it is.
This trade does show that those guys that believe first round picks are attainable are way off in their evaluations.

Ah okay.
Still, any general restocking of second rounders is good. This proves the point I’ve been making- acquiring second rounders isn’t super hard.
Save some money next year, get a couple of marginal picks, and helps the tank.
It’s not a big trade, but those are all small wins. I’ll take it. Nobody was giving us a first.

Interested to know what our cap situation will look like this off-season assuming now.
I can't see us keeping CoJo around

Ehh I wonder if there was a better offer around feel like Delon could've netted us something better I hope Cory dont start taking minutes from Saben/DSJ Kings fans saying he's been one of the worst rotational players in the league.

Negative much?
If there was a better offer don't you think Weaver takes that instead?
IF CoJo is as bad as those Kings fans say he won't play much if at all and if he does we'll be worse because of him

Extra picks, more cap flexibility this off-season also attained in this trade.
For those that wanted Wright gone this is a win

I like Weaver for the most part but he has done some head scratching stuff so far as GM so who knows what the other teams interested in Delon had offered.

I guess this was done was cap purposes because we basically got nothing back in terms of value.
Lakers pick will be 50-60, and a 2nd round pick 3 years in the future.
Hopefully Joseph racks up DNP’s however I doubt it because isn’t he one of Casey’s guys from the Raptors.
We went from one Casey Raptors favourite in Delon to another one in Joseph
