Potential 2nd rd steals and undrafted players 2021 draft

Post#1 » by FloridaMan78 » Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:04 am

Figured this might be a fun topic to come back to later.
We have some 2nd rounders this year. Who you got?

I'm not too sure about Sekou, and Cook would be solid if he could hit a three. Ron Harper Jr is flying under the radar. Most mocks have him undrafted. He's only 6'6 but in the new NBA he could play 2-4 and maybe some small ball 5, he's a wide body. Reminds me of Pj Tucker and Corliss in the post. His 3pt% isn't great, but he missed a bunch of step back threes which he wouldn't be allowed to take on an NBA team. Would be great to pick up another bench player off the street.

Jesus, did his dad have sex with a walrus? Ron Harper looked nothing like that.

I haven't watched much college basketball outside of the Big Ten, but Isaiah Livers can really shoot the ball well.

He's a senior so he's not going to be looked at as a high upside guy at all He may have been a late first rounder if he came out last year. He also had a season ended injury this year, so he likely won't be able to do much for pre-draft workouts.

He's exactly the type of player that could/should be good enough to be an NBA rotation player but is going to fall to the second round or perhaps even out of the draft.

https://www.nbadraft.net/players/isaiah-livers/

He'd be a great guy to have as your long term backup to Bey I think.

I've already professed my love for Juzanga if he falls to the 2nd. Yeah, I know that just seeing a player shine in the tournament is a small sample size, but he did it more than once against a lot of tough teams. Can he do it all the time? Who knows. But at the very least you know the talent is there.

Livers is the ultimate glue guy. Doesn't do anything outstandingly well but isn't bad at anything, and is a leader on the floor. I'd definitely take him in the second.

Franz Wagner if he falls to the second. Does he need to improve? Yep. Should he have stayed in school from a development standpoint? Sure. But when the NBA comes knocking on your door, you go. Has the ability to do literally everything on a basketball court with size, length and athleticism.

I wonder which picks we'll actually end up with by draft day. Depending on the lottery, they may be swapped or bundled. Weaver will likely surprise us once again.

I'd take Livers in the late second round and expect quite a wait until he's fully healthy. Rehab and regaining strength and flexibility after stress fracture surgery is critical to avoid future issues. His health going forward is the risk that'll drop him in the draft and this will need to be handled patiently. Almost a draft and stash for next season.

 Holy ****. I just burst out laughing.

Secondly, he has an alien wide body. He is as wide as two normal humans. It is bizarre looking. Not fat, but side-wide. I don't believe I have ever seen anything like it.

That video of Harper isn't impressive to me. He looks slow and his athleticism isn't what I thought. He dropped wide open threes, but so what? They only show the ones he makes.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

  He’s half Filipino, that’s another reason I like him cause he’s a flip. If we got him we’d get a huge Filipino following.

He’s definitely slow. He needs to get in better shape. But I think his value is his versatility to be able to guard bigs and shooting guards. He’d fit our defensive schemes and our offense in the Cook role. I like Cook but he has no 3ptr and that kills our offense.

I like Juzanga. I could see Weaver moving up with one of the seconds for him if he had to. Especially if we get a big with our 1st pick.

So that's like, what...12 more people at Pistons games?

Franz is projected as a late lotto pick, though.

Hence him being a second round steal.

I’m a Michigan guy, I love Franz (and Mo), but if you take him in the lottery of this draft, you’re doing something wrong.

Weaver likes long athletic types right? Looks like he’s going late second to undrafted

Give me Luka Garza all day and twice on Sunday in the 2nd round. He will be a solid 6 man for years.

Also a Michigan fan. if Frank is a top 10 guy, this is a very weak draft. Luka Garza was much better in college.

Johnny Juzang is half Vietnamese so if the Pistons draft him I'll get his jersey for sure.

He reminds me a bit of Nikola vucevic that orlando traded. would love him in the second round.
