obviously great to see the rooks all play well (even lee had a solid game), hopefully they can keep it rolling for the rest of the season.

and it's especially good to see hayes play well given how his season started but i'm not ready to say weaver hit on that pick. it's still entirely possible hayes turns into a delon wright-type player or worse, though hopefully that isn't the case.

I'm glad Hayes got back long enough to get in game shape and start getting comfortable on the floor. Even though it's only a couple dozen games, that experience is valuable to build from next season.

Thats how its done. And still people talk about how a team can't tank and play a bunch of youth to lose - for reasons.

Good job Thunder.

you realise we currently still have a worse record than the Thunder?
Nope, cognitive dissonance won't allow it.

You know the takeaway I saw with Hayes tonight was this: comfort being on the attack with his game. That's the element that is missing. Just plain experience and understanding of how the game works at this level and be able to make his moves. He has a long road ahead - for sure - but he's at least looking like an upper third guard in this league in a few years. Certainly not a bust. Fun to watch his progression.

Killian's own words tonight... he started the season overthinking and being to worried about everything and he came back and his teammates told him to just play his game and not overthink things and just go out and play and its helped him play better. Said he loves his teammates and thinks the future is bright in Detroit.

Weaver unloading Griffin paved the way to better development across the board. One of his best moves so far.

Troy Weaver hit on all our draft picks its crazy to see.

Honestly, look at the draft, lots of teams "hit" on their picks, for being a supposedly terrible draft, 2020 will go down as one of the better ones in the end I think. Which players have really sucked? Lots of useful players in 2020 draft.

Obi Toppin. Most everyone else it’s too early to tell. Obi is going to need a miracle to even be worth a lottery pick.

But for everyone that was bothered that we kind of went all in on this past draft, there’s a lot of my bad type posts.

The 2020 first round definitely turned out to be pretty solid and was absolutely considered the worst draft class in a long time

2020 draft got crapped on because of no top end talent. Picks in the 10 to 20 range on average are going to be better than a lot of other drafts for sure.

I think part of why it was looked upon so poorly was no one saw alot of games from most of the top tier players. Rendered the confidence low. In the end that made it murkey and a good GM could see that people would value 2020's picks lower due to lack of knowledge. It still takes some luck to hit on them but good on Weaver for seeing the opportunity to grab cheaper picks when people were unsure.

Not only grab those picks but seemingly hit on them all.

I said it when the knives were out for Weaver during free agency:

Due to the league shutdown our FO had essentially 5 months to plan exactly what they wanted to do.

I doubt Weaver even comes here if he wasn't given the green light by Gores to built his own way so:

5 months prep obviously paid off!

We got a lot of young talent, in a very good position to add more and a massive amount of cap space coming soon enough.

maybe Weaver and the FO have a clue
