Am I crazy?

We just finished with the 2nd worst record in the league.
We are basically being discounted by a lot of pundits out there in terms of talent / future.
We now get to watch while all of the better teams duke it out for a ring.
Yet I am more excited about Pistons basketball than I can remember being in a long, long time

.
Like I'm already jonesing for even the smallest nugget of information about offseason development / plans, etc. And it's been 4 DAYS since our season ended. It's going to be a such long but exciting offseason

It certainly is interesting again! These next 30 days waiting for the balls to drop are going to drag.

Same. Love it or hate it, Weaver completely wiped the slate clean. I personally like the moves he made. Everything’s fresh and new and I’m excited for what’s next.

I think this says something about the recent history of Piston basketball.

Since the season we traded Billups we finally have an actual direction. We’ve also had basically the same record in all those seasons other than a couple random .500 seasons. Basically we’ve been the NBAs Groundhog Day for all that time.
Exciting offseasons of what so so free agents are we going to sign and blind guess draft picks creates a really low bar.

The only thing I'm not excited about is all our dead cap space. Obviously weaver had to play the hand he was dealt with that one, but that's the only thing slowing down the rebuild right now.

You can be excited about the Pistons and still be bats**t. That's where my money is.

Many a rebuild has stalled at the “look at all our prospects” stage, but yeah, I’m excited. At least we’re finally trying.

I'm excited at the prospect that LCA could eventually be full again.

Yeah, that was my first reaction too. And not to break balls or anything but I'm not aware of LCA being full for a Pistons game. Or maybe the context was just in reference to sold out Pistons games.

Not crazy. Just desperate for any sense of promise.
We are no longer a poor team that also has among the worst collection of young prospects in the league.
There’s a CHANCE we might climb out of the league’s Mariana Trench.

And all it took was a complete overhaul of the roster in a matter of on year and seemingly hitting on four draft picks in a single draft.

I meant both the "not empty due to COVID-19 fading" and "not empty due to Pistons not being turdwatch on the court".

After getting all nostalgic over Ben's HOF announcement I watched the '04 Finals again and actually got a lil teary eyed. I LOVED that team. In the years since my passion has eroded to the point were I honestly don't even know when or who the Pistons are playing. I barely know the names on the roster. We've had no purpose. No direction. No hope.
Sure we've tied false hope to the likes of Stuckey, who was going to be better than Westbrook. We argued Monroe was better than Cousins. Dre was going to be the next D12. But with each passing year it became more and more clear that we were no longer truly about winning. We didn't have the balls or the fortitude to do what it actually took to win.
I don't know how this will turn out. I don't know if it's just more false hope. A lot of teams have been where we are at and failed. But we stepped off the treadmill. We picked a direction. And win or lose I am thankful for that.

I hear ya. Heres to hoping this time is different. Really praying we draft the ROY this upcoming draft.
Where did you watch the '04 series?

Oh those Stuckey vs Harden discussions and how it exposed so much homerism in this forum and overvaluing of their own players, including me, broadly speaking. Makes sense that Morey basically called this out even at the FO management level in between all teams
Good times, I remember the Monroe debates too. I was so sure he was going to improve each year, but then didn't and he peaced out on the team and took the QO as a lame duck
At least this team was united on being against Josh Smith though. Except for that one guy that always defended him
Time flies, damn
