Thank you Troy Weaver.
Pistons fan here for over 30 years. I remember the turnover. I remember the bad boys holding up trophies. I remember not shaking hands. I remember the teal abomination. I remember Hill leaving for greener pastures. I remember Ben Wallace becoming great. I remember the record setting NBA defense. I remember the Rasheed trade. I remember arguing with Pat Caputo on the radio afterwards. I remember the 5 game sweep.
I now will remember this absolutely mind blowing 1 year turnaround. I will remember the Pistons landing the #1 overall pick.
Thank you Mr. Weaver.

He’s such a great part of our story. Think we will win another championship with him running things.

Re: Thank you Troy Weaver.
It’s honestly kind of cool, kind of ballsy that this is basically his entire team. And that he did this as quickly as he has. Outside of sekou, devidis, Casey and some other front office people.
Like this goes good, bad or otherwise he basically went all in. Rather than all the “kind of (___insert GMs name) plan, kind of not” we’ve basically been dealing with post dumars.

Re: Thank you Troy Weaver.
Troy definitely deserves the lions share of the credit for shaping the change of course we've seen in just the past year.
But, I also want to take a moment to shout out Coach Casey for putting pride aside and committing to the tank. He didn't protest trading away his entire roster or the hit to his win/loss record, he saw the long term vision and focused on developing our foundation.
And, I think we also need to acknowledge less popular figures: Ed Stefanski and Tom Gores. This all doesn't happen if Stefanski doesn't step aside and seize the opportunity to hire Weaver. Weaver doesn't come aboard if Gores doesn't finally throw in the towel on bringing in big names and pushing for the playoffs.
Everyone had to commit to this approach for it to work -- we could have just as easily become the Wizards, making a pointless playoffs run for optics while undermining our long-term prospects. Kudos to everyone involved, but Weaver above all.

I know he endeared himself to me with that. I am one of Casey's biggest critics, but he is the right coach for this team, right now, and his enthusiasm is going to serve the players on this team well. The Moose wrote:joeposh wrote:Troy definitely deserves the lions share of the credit for shaping the change of course we've seen in just the past year.

Re: Thank you Troy Weaver.
Yes, Troy Weaver in 1 year without much in the way of positive assets has managed to turn this team around, via clever trades and smart picks as well as working the free agency market, he's put this team in a position to move to the top of the east in the next 2/3 years. The way I see it, is if they take Cunningham, they are going to make the playoffs next year, then in 2022 they will have loads of money to try to take the team from the bottom of the east to the top, his plan couldn't even have been this good.
I think it is possible, especially with Philly's flameout, that the Restoration may replace the Process as the future model teams will copy moving forward to get to contention.

Re: Thank you Troy Weaver.
Ed Stefanski was able to convince Tom Gores that waiting two years to hire Weaver, as well as bringing in Casey and moving out Drummond, were the right moves. He won't get the kudos we all owe him, but he was the architect of the foundation we now have.

Re: Thank you Troy Weaver.
So are we making Ben Wallace part of the organization again? I am legitimately asking if anyone knows

Unlikely he will have any official title, but he's certainly going to be someone we celebrate this season with his hall of fame induction. I think we've got to have a Ben Wallace night at some point. Hopefully we'll see him courtside for some games as well.

Not sure Ben is a teacher. You can’t really teach what he did, he was a unique force of nature. But he is insanely popular, and should certainly be a face for the franchise.

Not really interested in Ben as a coach, just wondering if he was getting a front office role.
