With 17 1st round picks in the next 7 years, OKC wants the #1 this year. What would you take to give up the #1
Don't say all 17

2021 draft
No. 6 pick (own)
No. 16 pick (Boston Celtics)
No. 18 pick (Miami Heat)
2022 draft
Own first rounder (owed to Hawks if 15-30)
Clippers first rounder (unprotected)
Suns first rounder (protected 1-12 in 2022, 1-10 in 2023, 1-8 in 2024 and unprotected in 2025)
2023 draft
The best first rounder between Thunder and Clippers
Heat first rounder (lottery protected in 2023-2025, unprotected in 2026)
Nuggets first-round pick (lottery protected 2023-25; if not, turns into 2025 and 2026 second-round picks)
2024 draft
Own first rounder
Clippers first rounder (unprotected)
Rockets first rounder (top-4 protected; if not, 2024 and 2025 second-rounders)
2025 draft
The best first rounder between Thunder, Clippers and Rockets (Rockets pick top-10 protected)
Sixers’ first rounder (top-6 protected; protected 1-4 in 2026, 1-4 in 2027; if not, 2027 second-round pick and $2 million)
2026 draft
Own first rounder
Clippers first rounder
Rockets first rounder (top-4 protected; if not, 2026 second-rounder and $1 million)

No.
They’d need a better pick for this to even be considered. With number 6 ( the pick we feared getting) as the best asset coming back there is nothing they could add to make that worth it.
Premise is simply a non-starter.

If they would have landed #2 or #3, that pick plus #16 and #18 would be at least somewhat tempting IF Weaver doesn't see much difference between the top few players. But I have a feeling Weaver is going to think that Cade is for sure the best option and getting 3 or 4 mid first rounders won't be enough to get out of that #1 pick.
That said, of course we'd trade #1 for #6 plus 10 more first rounders but I don't think anyone thinks a deal like that is feasible.

They have nothing I would give up the 1st pick for

Step one, we guarantee Joseph and McGruder.
Step two-
Detroit trades: Joseph, McGruder and 1st overall to Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma City trades: Shai, Aleksej Pokusevski (edited in), 6th overall, the 6 best 1st rounders they are owed (including at least one of the pick swaps) to Detroit.
Oklahoma City trades a 1st to Houston via Detroit to settle the Christian Wood trade.
Houston sends kenyon Martin jr to Detroit.
In other words, no.

At the end of the day I think Cade projects to an All NBA player who we hopefully have for at least 8 years. The question becomes, what do you trade for a content star? #6 and fodder isn’t enough

I laugh and go if you give us all of those we wont have a chance at a prospect as good as Cade. I'm not a fool Sam I know why you're offering us your bag you know Cade is a potential MVP.

The fact that they have all those picks and would STILL covet what we got tells you all you need to know how overblown that "warchest" talk can be.
For me it starts with SGA and their next two drafts.

This isn't the NFL where collecting a bunch of later picks is a good thing so a trade like this would be useless for the Pistons that need a franchise player. Take Cade or trade down to 2 for a big haul and take Green. Those are the only two options.

Majority of those future firsts are from playoff teams, so chances are you aren't getting great picks at least for the ones due the next couple years.

Mid to late first round picks are not so valuable. Sure there are occasional stars and you get these guaranteed contracts, but if you look at the history of the draft, a lot of the players in the last half of the draft are out of the league in a few years. If we are getting FRPs in a trade, I'd want unprotected picks from a poorly run team so they would at least be top 10 picks.

Pretty much the way that I feel. Would I trade Cade for Houston one, Wood, Porter, plus two more unprotect picks plus our pick back? Maybe. Overall, I’d rather keep the pick.

So Snakebites enticed me into check out the trade board(imagine passing an alley and in it are drug dealers, meth heads, used car salesmen, and hookers all fighting)and after closing that hellscape, I wondered;
"Is Cade good enough to pass on 99% of trades?"
After watching the same several hours of highlights, and game film again, yeah, he's that good. Smooth as silk with the ball, has the same way about him in the lane that Luka has(never really hurried)and has a hell of a three point shot, combined with court vision.
I hang up on OKC, and calmly (like Cade) place the phone into a cannon, and shoot it into the sun as a response.

I feel like the trade board is the equivalent of the 4th floor on the show parks and rec
