Mason Plumlee Appreciation thread.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Thu Jul 29, 2021 11:25 pm

The guy was great for the year he was here. I understand at his age that he was not going to be a part of the young core moving forward, but he did a fine job being a professional and good mentor to the young guys.

Lol no Brainerd deal for Charlotte. Never believed he'd be able to be packed in a deal to move up but didn't think he'd be involved to move down 20 spots in the 2nd round lol.

But with such limited teams with space I guess.

Was a big fan of Plumlee in his Blazer days. Good for Plumlee!

He played considerably better than I expected. Cheers to Mason.

Yeah, I liked him more than I thought I would.

All the best to Mason. This move says something bigger is coming Detroits way. Stewart the starter....ok. But who plays behind him? We have nobody. I have a feeling something bigger is coming. I don't think Cade, even if officially is drafted by us will end up with us.

Hope there is a bigger deal like you are saying and this isnt some cost cutting move or some dumb move on Weaver's part.

Literally makes zero sense giving up Plumlee when there are multiple teams that we could have traded him to

How do we move backwards 20 spots and Charlotte gets a cheap, productive veteran C for nothing in return?

Unless that 8M is being used to absorb someone in a future deal this is a dumb move

Good attitude and a smart player who got the most out of his abilities. Not a star but a solid contributor to the new culture here in Detroit. Many thanks and good luck at your next stop!

He did what he was hired to do.

Just didn’t fit with what we were doing.

Good luck, Mason.

Great pick up for Charlotte. They’ve gonna be solid next year.

Wow, are we going to the bargain bin for our centers now? It's basically Stew and some other guys I can't remember that are on the roster

Honestly, not a bad move to gain some cap flexibility but there goes that theory that someone would've traded for a pick for him last season

We started last off season's action with hoarding centers, now we are flipping the script.....for a minute.

Weird move but maybe clearing the way for Luka Garza at #42? :) All of a sudden we have an opening for a traditional center.

Assuming the trade is leading to something. Regardless, they'll miss Plumlee.

I have to think that Joseph and McGruder are gone with this deal. 20 million gives the Pistons the ability to add a wing score via FA. I could see this team competing for a playoff spot with the right FA signings now. I didn’t think that I’d like the Livers pick as much as I do. Seems like a perfect fit for the Pistons.

Cheers to Mason. He played well for Detroit, was a good mentor to the young guys, and added to the team environment. Not much else you can ask for.
