Gross

Alex Caruso signed for 9M would much rather have him

And he signed after Lonzo had signed his new 4/85M deal with the Bulls

Would have been a good mentor for Cade considering he was basically the starting PG on the Lakers championship team

Another terrible move by Weaver

That's crazy that the Lakers lost Caruso, he's so steady and smart for them. Do the Lakers even have shooters anymore?

Yeah nah on Caruso - that signing baffles me.

So does this one but there's different levels.

2 years at 5 mil per? Why? We just gave him a bunch of free money!

Is there a way for Troy to stand aside during free agency? Let him work the Draft, make trades and all that but no more free agent signings please!

Head scratching? Mind boggling

Awesome, every minute Casey gives to this crappy vet is a minute that Cade/Killian should be getting.

And a 2 year contract to boot? Can only hope the 2nd year isn't guaranteed

They picked up Melo (who shot well from 3PT last year), Wayne Ellington, and Trevor Ariza

Personally i think Caruso would have been a better fit but i think he chose to take less for a bigger role i guess based on Westbrook eating all the guard minutes and hogging the ball?

Lakers also got Dwight.

Just feel like the 7.5M we gave to Cory Joseph and Trey Lyles could have been spent on Caruso.

I'm OK with this as long as it doesn't affect us signing our young FA's. I was hoping for less money and one season.

As long as Casey doesn't start overplaying the vets (Corey and Kelly) again, it's a decent signing for the team.

Saben Lee/Frank Jackson could have split Cory Joseph's minutes

This is a stupid deal all the way around.

Add in the 2.5M we gifted to Lyles for no reason and that 18M of cap space is long gone

Hopefully these garbage signings at least lead to another top 5 pick next season

I feel like we need a FA GM and let Weaver handle the draft. These signings are head scratching to say the least.

Don't forget, CJ had $2.4M guaranteed before we cut him. So we are paying him $7.5M this season and $5M next season. Might as well trade Saben Lee now.

Honestly, all I read from those 3 players you mentioned are "WASHED, WASHED, and WASHED". Caruso might actually be better than all 3 of them combined. They are really capped out so I understand they didn't want to pay Caruso but dang, that's rough

But Lyles probably won't play much, he's an insurance defense big, right? Can't imagine him taking minutes from KO much. Maybe Okafor is done for after that knee injury

You can't just roll with two rookie PGs (and yes, Killian is a rookie essentially).

With that said, I don't like the 2nd year and what's the point of the Lyles signing? I think a trade is in the works, there are too many bodies now.

Lakers are a funny situation.

At the start of last season their additions of Gasol/Trez were considered huge grabs even with the loss of Danny Green (who played poorly for Sixers overall) and Dwight Howard/Javale McGee.

But when push came to shove Trez didnt see the floor, Gasol was garbage, and even KCP played absolutely terrible to end the year when LeBron/AD needed him to pick up the slack.

So considering Trez didnt play, KCP was garbage, and Gasol barely could stay on the floor with a hobbled LeBron and injured AD - and the lakers STILL won 2 games against the WCF champ Suns, this Westbrook trade will be a gigantic improvement for them because the depth they lost (Kuzma, KCP, Trez) were absolute no shows/inconsistent.

Patty Mills is the Lakers key to their offseason, feel like he would help their team alot, it's between the Lakers and Warriors for Mills, Nets were in the running but he said no to that idea (guess he didnt want to share the rock with Kyrie/Harden and wanted another warm city)

To free up a net of $5 million for this year’s offseason.

If we kept him he'd count for 12+ mil on the books.

Dumping him cleared enough extra space to sign Lyles

Ok I'm out

I don’t like this move, but we basically turned Joseph’s one year $12.6 into a 2 year/$12.4 million. Could be worse, we could be the Knicks.
