Yeah, the writing has been on this wall for a long time.

It's a shame, I had high hopes for a while- I remember being happy we drafted him. He just wasn't the guy though. Total bust.

Looks like Weavers cleaning up the last of the Stefanski leftovers.

I like the fact that everything in place is now of Weavers doing and hopefully that solidifies the hard working, tough attitude culture here.

Although Coach Casey is technically a holdover, Weaver is responsible for extending him so that can be part of his Pistons resumé.

I was happy with the pick as well. It was a boom bust pick that didnt workout. He had some flashes here and there. No point holding onto him if he ever turns it around its not going to be as a Piston.

I'm really hoping that this is the end of our legacy of failing to add value through the draft.

People talk about our refusal to tank, our uninspired trades and free agent signings, bad coaching hires etc, but really our drafting has been our biggest problem and if it had been good it might have been able to overcome the rest.

It's clear that aren't going to pick up that 4th year option.... and if Weaver could go back in time he wouldn't pick up this year's 3rd year option. $3.6 million this year going to waste on Sekou if we have to waive him.

I actually thought we'd see some of him down with the Cruise this year after the moves we made, but being a 3rd year player he's probably not too keen on going down to the G League. He still needs a lot of work I wouldn't be surprised to see him head back to France.... which is one of the negatives about cutting him loose... likely someone that Killian has a good connection with headed out the door. Thought those two might eventually be a part of a nice bench unit together.

I've said this many times on here but reports were our warroom came down to the last minutes of the draft on taking Booker or Stanley. That would of changed everything. Obv Luke over D.Mitch. Then trading a late lotto pick in what turned out to be a good late lotto for Blake all those stung.

At least now we have Cade Cunningham. Hopefully we get another big time prospect this year and maybe one more in 2023. This is the best position we've been in since the Billups days. Funny enough we are still going to be absolutely terrible this season but still we have hope now.

I remember that 8 or 9 game stretch he played at the beginning of his rookie year like it was yesterday. Pretty crazy how hard he fell off from there.

Would be interesting to see how he fares with a change of scenery.

Pure speculation article, not that moving him would be the worst idea, by a Cleveland.com writer.

In other news, Lebron seems to have connections

Sadly Sekou still haven't added anything new to his game so I'm not surprised that he'll be moved. At 20yrs old with a new team maybe he'll figure things out and be able to stick around in the NBA.

His body language sucks. GM's have to start paying more attention to desire, drive, attitude, and how fierce a player is. It doesn't matter how talented, or skilled a player is, if they are lackadaisical, dismissive, e.t.c.

So many NBA players that have talent, but no drive.

He's been here long enough to know what it takes and it seems there's been no real progress so

Not exactly a scoop here.

It does make me wonder how a dude like him would have done IF he joined a team of hard workers with good leadership though

While I think there's certainly value in a young player being around teammates who work hard and coaches who provide good leadership, I don't think that's the difference between a player being successful or not; it only contributes to the level of success. Good players will shine no matter what IMO, and at some point I think it can be determined that the player just isn't all that good. I think Sekou falls into that category. It sucks but it happens. Not to mention that it may be the case where Sekou WAS around players who worked hard and coaches who provided good leadership. In the grand scheme I don't think it's a big deal. Nobody projected Sekou as being anything more than a project; not a likely All Star and most likely a good role player at best. So if it doesn't work out the team moves on and finds the next role player.

Think I would rather just keep him for another season at least over guys like Okafor and McGruder, lol.

I wouldn't be shocked if we moved him, but I don't think these are great sources.

And really, if we are getting a heavily protected 2nd - aka nothing - for him, what is the point? He's the type of guy rebuilding teams should take a flier on. Okafor and McGruder are not.

I've given up on Sekou having a spot in the rotation now or in the future, so if a trade happens for a pick or rights to a stashed player it wouldn't surprise me. I'd like to see Okafor released as well, opening up a spot for Garza and giving Pickett the two-way slot.

Swapping Doumbouya and Okafor for Diallo and Garza on the Pistons roster works for me.

The team didn’t even show interest in Sekou LAST season. We drafted and signed multiple guys who filled similar rotation spots, and when we did play him he never was given anything to do but spot up for threes which he generally missed.

I dunno why it’s taken this long to move on.
