Can't wait for some pictures of other players standing next to Cade so we can analyze how tall he is relative to the rest of the team.

it boggles my mind how it's the team's media day and there's literally nothing about it on the team's HOME PAGE. it's almost like they're trying to sneak it past their fans lol. no mention on twitter either.

Yep, I've often said that the team site is terrible.

Media Day, of course, is the first day of Training Camp. It's hard to believe that training camp is already here. The off-season is officially over.

I went all out this year. Got league pass with NBATV, another router with a VPN loaded onto it(thanks bro), a big ass TV,(tired of watching on a computer monitor) and I cannot wait for the season to start.

Hopefully I see some snippets of the Pistons media day on NBATV. I mean I should seeing as how the team has the #1 pick...

Happy to be hearing from the players to kick things off. Lots of hungry high IQ young players, can't wait to watch this team come together on the court.

trey lyles said he came to detroit because he wanted a real chance to play... there's definitely room in the rotation for him. he'll probably share backup PF duties with olynyk and be an emergency center if stewart or olynyk get in foul trouble or injured.

not saying he had tons of offers flooding in but i wouldn't be surprised if he took a more team-friendly deal (pretty much vet min, second year team option) for a chance to play more consistently.

I liked what Casey had to say about Grant and what he needed to improve and then Grant came up and talked about working on his rebounding and playmaking. Glad Casey knew Grant’s usage was already maxed out. Saben Lee impressed me talking about his work shooting, hope that continues to show like in summer league.

I’m not encouraged by Killian Hayes. Love his game, but man I feel like his self awareness just isn’t there. He talked about focusing on his defense. He talked about working with his training team working on his D. I love defense, but I don’t get how his people and the team isn’t focusing on his offense, his shooting, inside game and left hand. I get Stanley Johnson vibes thinking his offense is fine. Hayes has so much talent but really needs to put in the work. I hope I’m wrong, but I got a bad feeling.

Edit: I meant Hayes off hand

For sure you would hope more than anything he was working on improving his right hand, and his jumpshot. To double down on defense as your ticket in the NBA is for sure going the Stanley Johnson route. Hopefully those were both his biggest offseason skillset improvements... but if not, its going to be tough to put him out there for extended time. If 2nd year Saban Lee is outperforming him, 2nd year Saban Lee deserves those minutes. Killian can work on his game down in the G League.

That picture is very disturbing. A standard cinder block is 8" high by 16" long. If you extrapolate from what you can see, you'd figure there would be no more than three more layers between the bottom of the picture and the ground. That would make Cade just a whisker taller than the height of 9 layers of 8" cinder blocks--72 inches--plus 1/2" of mortar per layer for another 4-1/2". So Cade is really more like 6'4-1/2".

Man, the Pistons really got swindled by this kid.

Kinda sorta related segue...

At our usual Monday morning team meeting today my boss said something about having another team event in October while it was still warm enough to golf or do something else outside, go to Top Golf, or maybe go to a Red Wings game.

A little backfill here--I've worked in automotive my entire career with most of it either as the customer being entertained or now the sales guy doing the entertaining. I've worked for companies that either had Lions, Tigers, Pistons and/or Wings tickets and have taken people or been taken to a lot of Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Wings games over the last 25 years and I mean A LOT. The last four years I've been at my current company we've had Tigers and Wings tickets every year...that's it. So I was always under pressure to get customers out to Tigers and Wings games but no one wanted to go because A) both teams sucked, B) everyone in automotive sales/purchasing/engineering has been to a number of Tigers and/or Wings games, and C) my boss has this thing about no Friday, Saturday or Sunday games "because that's when people want to spend time with their families." And of course no weekday 1:05 Tigers games because "That's when everyone needs to work," so all the Tigers/Wings games were Monday-Thursday night at 7-7:30. So you wouldn't get home until midnight and if you were whooping it up with some drinks it made for a rough morning the next day. So no one ever wanted to go. This year he actually skipped the Tigers tickets and got Lions tickets instead--COOL...and then went and got Wings tickets again.

So when he mentioned going to a Wings game as a team event I said, "Dude--how about a damn PISTONS game?!? They have the #1 draft pick, a lot of exciting young players, and honestly--can we give the g**damn Wings a friggin' rest at this point? Or am I the only damn basketball fan in the group?" Apparently the answer is yes.

Now, I do have license to pick up tickets to pretty much anything a customer/potential customer wants to go to, but obviously meaning I need to have a customer/potential customer willing to go. So if any of you numbskulls work in automotive doing anything with electric vehicle motors or batteries and want to go to a game, shoot me a PM. Even if you can just put me in contact with the right people (read: buyers/purchasing, engineering) I'll be happy to pick up tickets so we can go to a game. With dinner, drinks, the whole nine yards. Even a little after game entertainment if that's your thing (yep, I can expense that too but just the drinks; any other "spending" you choose to undertake is on you). Now, you do have to trust that outside of what you may perceive as being a really argumentative, smart-assed a-hole in this forum, I actually am a pretty fun guy to hang around. And it would be free, plus I'd pick up good tickets too.

I used to have this wierd thing with watching games, vs going to a game. Everyone knows that going to a game has certain benefits (crowd, atmosphere, e.t.c)but the downside was brutal(especially at the palace)parking, getting out of the damn parking lot, idiot fans who got far to drunk, e.t.c.

Now, after covid, I relish going to a game, getting out and being in the crowd enjoying the game. Changed my mindset a little.

Still nothing better then sitting down at home and being able to easily use the bathroom, eat smash burgers off the griddle, and yell things that would embarrass a drunken sailor, but going to a game isn't as much of a hassle to me anymore. Something I look forward to now.

As for the Wings, or the semi-pro football team Detroit has, ugh. I've always been a 1 sport guy, and the thought of having to entertain someone while watching a Lions game is brutal sounding. Good luck with that.

It’s a shame because I think he could be really good if he put the work in on his weaknesses. IMO he should be non stop working on his scoring.

Saben seems like he is putting in the work and I hope they give him a shot if he shows out.

Here’s the link. Hayes interview starts at 1:56:00

The most awkward moment of yesterday's interviews was Casey throwing in Saben's name as someone who would see some shuttle time with the Cruise this year. Then, when asked about that during his interview, Saben had no clue.

I doubt coaches and trainers would allow Killian to simply not work on his weaknesses over the offseason. Probably answered “defense” because that’s what coaches have been harping on. Wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t a much better offensive player this off-season tho
