Cade's agent and "team" coming to Detroit to meet with Weaver about when he can start playing.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Wed Oct 13, 2021 10:12 pm

Rumblings on twitter about Cade being unhappy the Pistons are forcing him to sit even though he feels good to play. Supposedly his agent is flying to Detroit to meet with Weaver and medical staff.

This is 100% unconfirmed rumor at this point, but Detroit has had previous players including Blake and Rose unhappy with not being able to play. Blakes agent is also Cade's agent.

i haven't seen the tweets but i thought casey's phrasing was really weird when asked about cade's injury.

Read on Twitter

like how often does a coach/management sit down with a player's "camp" over a minor injury?

It's not really a rumor. The det news reported that Cade's team, the coaching staff and medical staff were all going to get together and talk about a timeline.

Sounds like the pistons are hiding something about Cade injury

that's a definite possibility but hopefully it's just the team being super cautious with cade and he's frustrated because he feels good to play.

in the NFL my team is the vikings and last offseason danielle hunter got what the coach described as a "tweak" in his neck and they weren't concerned. he sat all of preseason with the coach saying every interview "it's a tweak". he ended up needing surgery and missed the entire season.

now that was a neck injury, not sure what could cause complications with an ankle injury that wasn't obvious. i just have PTSD going through this whole situation lol.

Definitely sounds like somebody is lying. Cade probably had a MRI and the damage is worst than what the Pistons are revealing. Otherwise, why would his reps need to meet with the Pistons? This sounds sketchy

They’ll need to be transparent in the regular season. Vegas won’t stand for it

I can't think of a good reason for the Pistons to hold Cade out if he's 100%. If he's still got some lingering issues and we're being a little extra cautious I'm OK with that. It's in both the player & the teams best long-term interests. Even a small risk may not be worth it if it's entirely avoidable with some *minor* precautions.

But like any player, the guy wants to play. That's OK too. And he's probably testing some limits here - flexing a lil. Hopefully that's all it is, they can talk about a specific time frame and this is no big deal. This really sounds like the type of nonsense that would have been a non-story 5-10 yrs ago, but we gotta drum up some drama to talk about. Moving on.

Translation: "I want to see Cade play and I'm pissed that he's not going to be out there to entertain me. So the team must be hiding something."

It's preseason. Lighten up, Francis.

It’s New York, that’s lost sponsorship money for the Cade team.

Exactly. I alluded to this in the Killian thread. This whole thing about coming up with a plan to discuss his return seemed odd to me and my initial reaction was that MAYBE the injury is a little worse than they initially thought. Who knows though but it's definitely discussion worthy IMO.

I can live with them being obnoxiously cautious in the pre-season. The goal is for Cade to stay healthy and get lots of time to develop over the regular season.

The original report says nothing resembling what the title of this thread is.

There’s a discussion to be had about how best to manage Cade’s usage, but a thread like this is just deceptive.

First of all, the title of the thread is a question... That's what the question mark is for. I don't know that he is growing frustrated, but that is a narrative that some people are running with on twitter. Doesn't make it factual at all which is why is said, and I quote "100% unconfirmed rumor".... but there certainly is a rumbling that Cade isn't happy that he isn't allowed to play right now and that his people are coming in to meet with management to talk about it.... Even Casey's quote of "he's too important" makes it seem like he likely feels like he could play, but for Detroit he's too important to put out there not being 100% for a Preseason game. I

Nothing is deceptive at all with my post.

Did you really just pull the “I’m just asking questions!” line out on me?

It’s deceptive because it lacks evidence. And no, Twitter narratives aren’t evidence.

In several weeks, he'll be playing 30+ a night and this will be a minor blip in the radar

It sucks that he's not playing in the preseason to get his stamina going and in game shape, but it never hurts to rest up, stretch, and strengthen during the off days
