Draft best available perimeter player, we need a guard or long wing player period. It's Cade or bust at point guard end of story. Bey has cemented his starting role for the next two years and all of our guards have been abysmal. Nobody is safe. The truth is yes Killian needs to come off the bench but who deserves it more than him? It's not like Saben Lee has All star potential. So we need a shooting guard from the draft no question. My top are Houstan Hardy Chet and Paolo.

Sign the best player you can find much like Jerami Grant. If you can overpay a player next offseason we should make it happen simply because we have the cap space and we're desperate to surround Cade and Grant with talent because we need to resign Grant. I think it's very telling how hard it is to get talent. I think Grant is looking at 25-30m a year extension. I also think because Cade is on a cheap rookie contract we need to take advantage of that 3 year window because if he's that good he's gonna get a minimum 30m a year so giving out 20m a year contract should be very easy for us to do next summer. That's money we'd be otherwise paying Blake.

Then it's all about how creative you can be with trades. Can you find that Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock trade SVG got? That tobias Harris for ilyasova and butler? Can you sign that DJ augustine. Even Reggie Jackson is amazing at point guard now. So in reality we have Josh Jackson, Diallo, Frank, and Lyles to be on the block for veteran teams to take. I don't think anyone wants Diallo personally.

I see things a little bit different than you, but your post is interesting. The way I see we have Grant/Bey/Lyles at the 3/4. I really like what I've seen from Lyles so far and I hope we resign him to a 3 year deal asap.

I still believe in Saben Lee/Frank Jackson to be our backup guards, they still need to develop but I think they play well together and they'll be solid off the bench.

And I see Isaiah Stewart as a good backup C, I don't see him as a starter.

So our roster for the future imo is

Starting C / Stewart
Grant / Lyles
Bey / Grant / Cade
Cade / F. Jackson
PG/Saben Lee

So I think we need a starting Center and a starting PG. Olynyk is too old and we need someone better than him. He is a decent backup 4/5 imo but I don't see him being part of our long term future. CoJo/Hayes/Diallo/J.Jackson etc are just terrible.

If we could draft a star guard (a guy like Ja or Trae) and sign a guy like Mo Bamba, we could be in a good position.

I oddly agree with you. I’m not 100% sure if Grant should be in our future plans and I’m not sure if Stewart is a starter or not. I do think a guard and a center are what we need. I like Jaden Ivey from the draft and Mo Bamba would be good to take a flyer on.

I can see how Stewart is seen as not a starter. From what I can tell he can defend pretty well. He’s shown he’s closing out on point guard pick and rolls and he’s putting his hand in spots the big men are missing inside the paint. I think Ben Wallace is training him very well in that regard. I think he definitely needs help but that’s basically why we have Cade as a long point guard. I don’t think Killian is a starter in the league and I think we’ll be drafting a long wing like Houstan.

Hornets only offered Bridges a 4 year $60 million extension. That's laughably low.... a slap in the face. That's old many Kelly O money practically. No doubt he is going to go out to the highest bidder this summer. He's the #1 guy to keep an eye on, with Ayton being a close 2nd. Either of those guys are going enough and good enough to be key starters and potential all-stars for us.

Would love to see Bridges in Red, White & Blue. Get it done Tom Gores

Yep they're going to get matched. It's the usual RFA shenanigans at this point. Unless there's heavy discontent and losing from their team, there is little chance we actually get them

Anfernee Simons have been really good this season for Portland, I did not expect him to develop, but seems like he did.

Portland are not in a good financial situation, they have around 100 million commited to 6-7 players next season, Nurkic, Covington and Simons will be FAs.

Simons will be RFA, but maybe they'll not be in a position to bring him back/match a sizeable offer, and we could try to steal him?

I think he could be a great fit in the back court next to Cade.

Miles Bridges would be an ideal FA signing I think. At least next summer. But after watching this mess I’d love to give Ben Simmons a shot as long as we don’t lose Stewart, Bey, Or Cunningham. But I still think Hayes is gonna make himself respectable by seasons end even if it’s just the last 25 games.

Please give me a comprehensive answer of how Ben Simmons fits with this team in the big picture. This team needs consistent scoring which is what Simmons CAN'T do. Plus what does the team do with Cade with Ben Simmons in the lineup?

I think a cheaper vet pg that was actually good could help Cade. I guess I'm in the minority but i don't see pg with him. I rather give that responsibility to someone else and let him worry about just getting his and spotting up shooting 3s. Get rid of Cory Joseph and have Killian play with the bench mob. Hopefully we can get a good big man in this draft.

So someone like Dragic? There's really not a lot of decent to good vet PGs out there and nearly every playoff bound Eastern team would pursue one since they themselves need a steady hand at the 1. Especially Boston with their mess and no playmaking

Cade is more combo guard so I would like to pair him with another one. Someone mentioned Anfernee Simmons. He's kinda built the same.

I want the ball in Cades hands more but not full time. But a dominant PG like Hayes is taking the ball out of his hands too much putting him in the corner.

Divincenzo should be our first target in my opinion. This FA I want guaranteed specialist. Don't have to be All-stars but I want reliable proven players to fill out this roster.

We'll have one more high pick and then that's young enough.

not sure what people mean with PG vs. SG or combo guard or whatever. players like doncic, harden, lillard, lebron, etc. all put up 20+ shots and are considered PGs. they also create a ton of plays for the rest of the offense. players like killian hayes create next to no offense for themselves or others and yet they're considered PGs.

cade's going to be given every opportunity to be a lead ball handler, from there it's up to him how much he can do with the ball. i think it's much too early to say what type of player would be ideal to complement cade, hopefully this season gives better insight to that (either long-term or short-term).

He isn't like those guys imo he is closer to booker type can handle the ball and even pass some but overall you don't want them to run the offense. So imo a pure SG. We need a pg that can consistently get in the paint but id settle for a decent vet pg for development sake.

Right now Killian for me is on the back burner put him on the bench and hope he can become some type of NBA player at least.

Given what I've seen thus far it's too early to be slurging on free agents.

Might just retain JJ and run it back one more year:

Stewart - KO - Garza
Grant - Lyles
Bey - JJ - Livers
Cade - Diallo - FJ
Hayes - Lee - CoJo

Add in a top 6 pick, see how the kids grow and then we'll see where we're at.

I've got to see 20 more games before I decide on anything, but based on the games Cade has played in, and the offense being utilized, I would only return a select few players, and start making trades.

If things don't turn around quick, it's going to happen faster then anyone here realizes. Gores has been desperately trying to build a winning team since he bought it, and even though Weaver has been busy, and making good moves, he will only stand by and watch this crap for so long. If this trend of getting brutalized continues, my guess is 5 games, and we'll see big changes.

Do you believe Weaver came here to repeat the mistakes of Joe & SVG?

Do you not believe that at some point during the interview process Weaver laid it all out for Gores and explained why this has to be done a certain way?

I believe Weaver has 2 more off-seasons before Gores gets antsy and starts to apply pressure.

That means we use this season to develop these kids, add another top 6 pick, give these kids a first, 2nd and 3rd year to show what they can do then we spend money.

Given the timeline of Hayes, Bey & Stewart we have to spend our cap space BEFORE they enter RFA. That's just how the cap works.

Until then we should be patient and not rush to skip steps. We could end up being extremely good IF things shake out well.
