Five game home stand coming up.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Sun Nov 14, 2021 5:24 pm

We've got a nice little five game home stand coming us. These are always great because it allows us to get practice in between our games at our home facility. Hopefully lots of shooting in. Plus players don't have the wear of travel on them. It's probably a pretty key stretch for us to try to continue to get some good work in outside of actual games because when you're traveling constantly its hard to really get a bunch of practice in.

Mon Nov 15th Kings(5-8) - Kings have 2 days off after playing in OKC
Wed Nov 17th Pacers(6-8) - Pacers have 1 day off after playing in New York
Fri Nov 19th Warriors(11-1) - Warriors are on a B2B after playing in Cleveland the night before.
Sun Nov 21st Lakers(7-6) - Lakers have 1 day off after playing in Boston
Tue Nov 23rd Heat(8-5) - Heat have 2 days off after playing in Washington

The other great thing about this 5 game stretch at LCA is that we don't have a single back-to-back we play every other night.

It's obviously nearly difficult to accurately predict our wins and losses here because we've seen two very different teams out there one that can hit shots, and for most of the season a team that can't score at all.
Overall going:

0-5: At least we're getting another top pick but would be tough as a fan of the team to watch unless they're all close and competitive.
1-4: Probably the most likely outcome and what I'm expecting, beating one of Kings or Pacers.
2-3: Pleasant surprise for sure as we continue to have a respectable record in games Cade plays in.
3-2: Can we actually fight our way into the play-in games?
4-1: Maybe Casey does know how to coach.
5-0: Time to start planning for the championship parade.

With some reasonable improvement from the sophomores--which we're seeing with Bey and Hayes--and a respectable start from Cade, I predicted that the Pistons would win 30-35 games (about a 40% winning percentage), so I'd expect a 2-3 record. Given what we know about the shortcomings of this team no stretch of five wins should represent an expectation of a deep playoff run.

On a side note, if anyone wants to argue to Bey hasn't improved I'll be happy to defend my position. He has had a stretch of poor shooting games--the entire team has--but he has absolutely become a more skilled player since this point last year.

Yeah, I’ll go with 2-3, which is fine as long as we see signs of progression.
Stay low for Paolo!

Predict we beat the Kings but lose the other 4 games.

The only team really on their level are the Kings. I could 1-4 or even 2-3 if they manage to blindside a team. They just aren't a competitive team until they fix the balance of the team. Too many ball dominant guards, not enough shooters.
