Grant + KO with JJ or Diallo. This is gonna happen lol and peeps are gonna be mind blown haha.
I'll love it I think he will dominate as our main facilitator from the 4spot with Cade and secondary guy. Cade can take over in crunch time and when things bog down in half court. Simmons will make life so much easier for Stew Bey and Hayes getting them all easier baskets.
Defensively we would be incredible and fun to watch in transition after steals

It's GOING to happen? I'll take that action.

I just got this feeling....and when I get a feeling I'm usually right about 62%of the time lol.

I'm starting to sour on Grant a bit. He doesn't fit our timeline, takes the ball out of Cade's hands, and frankly isn't all that good. I also don't mind trading Bey in the right package as I think he's likely a career role player. He certainly isn't on my "will not trade unless star coming back" list. All this said, I don't know Ben Simmons is the right guy to go after. It would be an expensive experiment for sure.

What I wouldn't give for some sort of metric that measures how frequently a poster makes declarations with confidence about things that they have no insight, authority, or even logical premise behind. Let's call it the BS factor.

I'd then ask for a slider where I could decide each day just how much BS I want to deal with and it would then automatically filter out posters that fall below the threshold.

I guess if such a thing existed then there would be a lot less posting here; because 40% is nonsense that is posted and 40% is folks calling out said nonsense :)

It's not that serious :meditate:

Don't need Simmons's big contract during our rebuild. Period.
Moving Grant at the deadline (or before)? Sure.
We are doing a proper rebuild the last and a half. Let's not f--k it up doing a SVG move.

Honestly watching Grant today made me feel more receptive.

Though I still don’t think the Sixers would accept a deal I’m which Grant is the main value piece.

Pretty much this. Simmons is a hefty contract, but the contrast to Simmons and Blake was Simmons is considerably younger if he should suit up for us and Blake was already injury prone by then. Whereas Simmons is largely not injury prone now. So we'd theoretically would easily get more good mileage out of him and if he plays well, rehabs his value here, could flip him later to a better team wanting to take a next step like Memphis or a Sacramento or a Charlotte who are starving for more talent.

The flip side to this is, he still can't shoot and looks pedestrian in a meaningful game due to his mental lapses in crunch time situations. Which the league already knows by now.

I'm also open to flipping Grant to a better team as well. We'd get 80 to 90% of potential value of what the positive results of the Simmons experiment played out here, except Grant is way more flippable already now.

If Grant doesn’t concede to giving the ball to Cade in crunch time then Grant needs to be moved. Not a big fan of the Simmons trade, probably Grant, Josh Jacskon, Hayes and a 2026 1st round lottery protected pick. If for less, than it would be worth it. I think Free agency is gonna suck for a while anyways.

Ya cap wise its gotta be Grant, Josh with either KO or CoJo.
Pistons would be crazy to not do that if philly wanted to.
Elite defense and playmaking.
Keep Bey Stew Cade Hayes.

I think it's starting to become obvious to everyone, that Grant, who is a ball-stopper, and ISO player, does not fit with Cade, or Hayes for that matter. He doesn't really move without the ball, and doesn't move the ball either.

I am really, really unsure how Simmons would fit with this team(although it would be amazing defensively with Cade/Hayes/Simmons)and I know this thread is about Simmons, but there are a bunch of teams out there, that would love to have Grant, and his friendly contract.

Who is a possible get, when combined with other bench guys, and possibly a few picks? Hield, and Bagley?

Shooting and a springy bigman?

Grant has tremendous value because of his play, and contract. Does it have to be the one player(Simmons) that doesn't seemingly fit with the young core?

Just stop, people. Admittedly I've grown weary of Grant myself but I'm not a knee jerk reactionary. These ideas that the Pistons NEED TO DO SOMETHING just because you don't like what you see on the court doesn't mean they should immediately go after whatever shiny new toy is on the shelf just because you can justify to yourself that it's an improvement, either by addition of the new toy or throwing out the old one.

Consider that regardless of what you think of Grant, his capabilities are known even if he struggles with consistency. That being said, in the grand scheme of things now his contract looks pretty nice--oh, and it ends after next season anyway. Thus he's not an albatross if the Pistons keep him and it makes him easier to trade. Also consider that given this was fully expected (by most) to be a rebuilding year since little chance at making the playoffs was assumed, STICK TO THE PLAN. Make the splash after this season when a) more is known about what this team is becoming, and b) there will be lots of money to spend. Now finally consider this--let's say there was no indication SImmons wanted to leave Philly or that Philly wanted to dump him. Are you REALLY going to tell me that you'd say "You know what this team needs? Ben Simmons. Weaver should see what it would take to pry him away from Philly." That's one the most important one.

Alright alright I admit im just a trigger happy guy that gets impatient.
I still am in the camp of getting a hopefully top5 pick this upcoming draft.
And spending our cap space hopefully on an impact player this free agency or even the following one.
I was just hopefully hoping we could speed that up by trading for Simmons, still get a top5 pick and still signing someone with remaining cap.
I'm very hopeful Manocad

Or maybe we trade for him on the low.... rehabilitate his value and sell high.

I don't see the Pistons earning a top 5 pick this season. They are what 4-6 for Cades first 10 games?
There is a chance they play .500 ball from here on out.
That's not going to get us in lottery company or at least I'm not expecting it to.
The real excitement will be seeing the progression of our young closer MotorCade!

Just my opinion but I think Simmons has that knucklehead gene, i.e. "rehabilitate" him means coaching him up/getting him to change his game, and I do NOT see that happening with him.

I will need to see it to believe it. Pistons got knocked around pretty bad, at home, rested, against the GSW playing 1/5 starters on a BnB. So their bench were guys who never even play.

What have the Piston's wins looked like? The whole team, top to bottom, got hot from 3. Those are the wins.

This team is taking 40-50 threes a game - and the worst shooting team in the league. 1 out of 3-4 games Pistons will get hot and win a game. That doesnt look like .500 ball to me. But they could improve.

Jerami Grant in the process of building a homeless shelter and a rec center in the city of Detroit. Hearing stuff like that makes me want to keep him around, but getting a younger DPOY guy is hard to pass up for sure.

We bumped heads for years but literally are in lockstep on almost everything these last 2 seasons. This fanbase has THEE worst "shiny new toy" syndrome it really makes me wonder if some of y'all have kids and how they're treated if they make mistakes. Must be alot of boarding school parents on this forum FFS because y'all sho do alot of shipping away around here.

And don't try to fight me on this. About 6 years ago Ersan Ilyasova was such a great addition, a stretch 4 blah blah blah until y'all were tired of his flaws. And he was useless to y'all when the quicker trigger Anthony Tolliver showed up and he was the new toy. UNTIL y'all got tired of him too and wanted him gone asap. We loved Stanley Johnson when he didn't back down from LeBron in the playoffs. That quickly turned into hate and then elation when effing Thon Maker showed up in place of him. After 1 game he was "already better than Stanley" because he blocked a couple shots, hit a 3 and bloodied his lip hustling. Y'all loved him UNTIL y'all inevitably hated him too and wanted him off the team.

I remember there actually being people that wanted Chauncey gone because he wasn't going to the rack like a Baron or Deron Williams. It goes back to what I always say, I never get mad at players for making their own free agent decisions no matter how unpopular because fans are hypocrites who don't know WTF they want in life. They'll never be pleased no matter what you do so as a player you might as well do what makes you happy.

No one said “Stop posting.” We’re addressing the idea of trade trade trade every time a player has a bad game or a slump. You can post any idea you want and you should expect that people will either support that idea or judge it as being garbage. That’s what a forum is about; it’s not a big circle jerk.
