Wed Dec 15th opens trade season in the NBA.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:53 pm

Joseph signed a 1 year deal (with player option for year 2) so I believe he would have to agree to any trades that would be made. I believe he, Olynyk, Frank Jackson, and Trey Lyles can all be traded starting on Wednesday December 15th.

Cory Joseph held out of last game because he is about to be traded? I'm surprised this wasn't mentioned in the game thread. I guess everyone just assumes its because Casey wanted to go with Saben Lee.

It was reportedly earlier that the Sixers would wait until at least Dec 15th to trade Simmons, and it will be interesting to see if he is the first domino that falls or if other moves are to be made.

Blazers have been reportedly working the phones trying to get a deal made that keeps Lilliard happy and makes Portland a threat to come out of the West.

Kings are reportedly offering up the pair of Buddy Heild and Marvin Bagley in a package trying to get an upgrade.

Pacers' start Sabonis had his best week of the season after rumors of his availability on the trade market and a team rebuild in the works. He won player of the week and led the Pacers to a 3-0 record.

NBA trade rumors are certainly about to heat up as we come up to Wednesday when nearly a 4th of the league becomes eligible to be traded.

I hope like hell Cojo was held out because he's being traded and also hope like hell Lyles is going right behind him. This team doesn't need either of them for anything.

A Joseph trade would be the highlight of the month, an early Christmas present for all.

Eh. Honestly we need Lyles to even field a rotation right now. Maybe when Kelly gets back.

Cory can be shown the door now.

Can Lyles be traded and Pickett called up?

Sure, but is Pickett ready?

There's value in having some veterans around IMO. It's not as though he's messing up the tank.

In theory I certainly agree. I just don't see what veteran presence value Lyles provides.

Pickett is surely ready to play on a 4-22 team. The arenas janitor is ready to play on a 4-22 team.

I'm game for that Buddy/Bagley trade as well. It's not going to impact the team landing a top 5 pick thats for damn sure, and taking a flyer on the former #2 pick for anyone not named Cade/Hayes/Bey is fine by me.

With Grant and Olynyk out, keeping Lyles for a while seems reasonable. Hard to watch at times, but he fills a need for now. I agree he has little trade value anyway.

If Weaver finds a sucker to take Joseph soon I would be impressed. The Pistons would immediately be more interesting to watch.

It said Sacramento would package them for an upgrade. We don't have anything to trade that matches that description unless we trade Cade (which, of course, we won't).

Shrug. If trades happen they happen.

At this point I'm so down on this team that the only pieces I'm not okay with trading are Cade and first rounders. Everything else can go. Yes, that includes Bey and Stew.

hopefully weaver gets a legit 6'11-7'0 center that plays defense and can rebound that'll help us alot.

Hopefully he gets that in the offseason. Hopefully he gets it after the Pistons have secured a top pick.

Don't go adding pieces that will score this team the #8 pick unless they are a foundational type of piece.

i don't think adding a center (especially a young center) gets us winning that many games where we're in the 8th pick territory. just need some wins here and there or this team probably will go down as the worst in nba history with its current roster.

The 4th worst record has a shot at dropping to 8th, that's all I mean.

This team spent its lottery luck last year, let's not take chances of dropping out of the top 5

Orlando only has 1 more win. OKC is also always a tank threat. If they sit SGA or he gets injured they'll be worse than the Pistons. Rockets will likely be tanking any day, once they sell off Gordon and Wood and get Green back playing big minutes. New Orleans is also in the mix to tank. That's 5 teams in the tank zone and the 5th worst can drop to #9. :-?

Not to say it's likely with how bad this team is, but I wouldn't take many chances. They're a couple wins from being in the mix for 5th worst record.

Before Grant's injury I was close to 100% certain he was gone when he could be packaged on, or around the 15th.

Now I'm not so sure. I mean, I'm still 90%, but some teams may have cooled as they are concerned about record going into the playoffs. Grant would be a huge get for a bunch of teams, particularly this year, when the race is so damn tight.

Hold onto your butts.

Clean house, dump as much as you can for draft capital and creating salary cap room.
Give all the minutes going forth to Cade, Lee, Garza, Pickett, Smith, Livers. Maybe keep Diallo and Frank J.
Killian and Beef Stew should only be allowed on the court as reserves and Stew cannot be played as a 6 foot 8 center, dude ain't no B.Wallace.
Macgruder, Grant, JJ, Bey, Cojo, have shown enough to ship out imo.
Kelly O who has actually played well, I might keep unless good value was offered.
Do something, your holding a 4-21 card. But make sure it's with an eye on who to add and draft around Cade.
Bing.....layoff the Xmas nog before ya get on the air FFS's!

According to a radio report today Grant is considered the hottest trade commodity right now, with the context given from both the team's willingness to move him and interest from other teams.
