No word yet. Casey gave an interview last night and said "We’re going to leave that to the medical staff as far as exactly when (he) is coming back because it is all fluid. With (him), it is fluid. Even with the protocols, it is going to be something that the medical staff, the league and the doctors are going to have to figure out."

Today would be the first day he could return, but he obviously hasn't been able to work out with the team in any way for the last week. Wouldn't be shocked if they wanted him to get a practice under his belt.

Probably rather watch the Auburn game to see Jabari Smith tonight instead.

According to NBA rules, Cade could play tonight because its now a 6 day span. The only reason to not play him would be if Covid had an impact on him but in reality it seems 95% of NBA athletes are asymptomatic having Covid with no issues beyond just having to sit out.

I guess the other thing you could say is maybe he hasn't shot a ball in 7 or 8 days so they want him to get a practice in first with the G leaguers but in reality it would be stupid for the team to sit him out if he is cleared to play. He knows basketball he can figure it out.

I don't think they are concerned with his shot. It's more that he's been out of NBA training for a week now and don't want to do anything where he ends of with an injury of any sort.

Cade could have still been keeping himself in game shape the whole time. And even if he wasn’t it’s not like it’s been months or something, or that lagging a little presents an increased injury risk. Assuming he wants to play I personally can’t see a logical reason why he shouldn’t.

Fingers crossed for some Cade/Luka pick and roll. It could happen in spite of Casey's style, out of desperation.

You're asking for an offensive game plan that plays perfectly to the skill sets of the existing personnel; I think that breaks some sort of rule in Casey's playbook.

Cade is officially out tonight. Kelly Olynyk also still out but he's apparently getting close to returning and has been hitting the bike hard to get his conditioning ready. Crazy thing is, Livers still out but instead of being listed as out for "conditioning" like last game its now listed as "right foot soreness' so we'll see how long that ends up being a thing. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tonight&#39;s <a href="https://twitter.com/HenryFordNews?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@HenryFordNews</a> injury/status report against the visiting New York Knicks: <a href="https://t.co/UUCk7aO2qo">pic.twitter.com/UUCk7aO2qo</a></p>&mdash; Detroit Pistons (@DetroitPistons) <a href="

I'm not saying that Covid isn't a real problem causing real issues for a lot of people, especially elderly people... but when you're an elite athlete in your 20s or 30s its seemingly having little impact. Not on everyone though, I know Tatum had more problems than most people last year... but it does seems like most NBA players have just been out for the # of days required and then right back at is as soon as possible so its somewhat crazy that Cade is sitting this one out tonight when he could very easily be playing. He might have even practiced yesterday because it would have been his first day eligible to be back yesterday.

I guess this will be the time for the Cruise and other new guys to see some action. Cade coming back quickly into this mess might not be the best idea anyway.

If Casey's back, Micah Potter will probably get more minutes than Garza. At least the two of them can reminisce about their Big 10 days.

Yeah, that seems to be the theme across the NFL at this point, i.e. if players aren't showing symptoms, want to play and their teammates don't have a problem with it, let 'em play being that a) they're young, healthy athletes as you mentioned, and b) 97+% of them are vaccinated. I wonder if that kinda thought will start taking hold in the NBA.

Three minutes into this game and I'm thankful there's a bowl game on.

How can we go on a 13-0 run and be leading with Garza in the game, a guy many say shouldn't even be in the league? They should be scoring every time down on him, shouldn't they?

Yep. I believe a poster clearly stated that when Garza is in the game he WILL BE attacked constantly by the other team and usually give up a score. Not that said poster ever confirmed that it HAD happened, but IT WILL. Like the sign that reads "Free Beer...Tomorrow."

Difference in size with Garza out is huge.
