Draft Lottery Night

Lottery night - what are you doing? Any rituals? Good luck charms? Do you even watch?

West Coast it starts at 4:30, so it’s pre-dinner activity. I lay out a printed mock draft (so I can scribble on something), take a hit of premo attitude adjustment, and then keep my fingers crossed!

What about you?

Recently I will just track it on my phone, and if the Pistons are in the top 4 (so just last year), I tune in after the commercial break. And that's just when the Pistons are in the top half of the lottery. If they're in the bottom half with no expectations of realistically being able to jump up, or God forbid actually in the playoffs, then I watch it all. But I can't stand the disappoint of having the #8 team jump to #3, when the Pistons were the #7 team. That happened just about every year.

For sure. We need a top 3!

last year i couldn't find a stream for the lottery anywhere on my usual sources or YouTube so instead i watched a live show of some amateur vloggers react to the lottery live...

so yeah this year i'll be at a blue jays game. i'm sure i'll get a notification when the results are in.

Can we just make sure that Snakebites doesn't watch this one? Last year he skipped it and we know what happened as a result...

This year ill be home in the states smoking some bud watching it online. I've got 5 guys I'd be happy walking away with but I'd still prefer to be top 3 so I know Weaver will 100% take one of them. If we end up 4 or 5 we may go for Murray who I'm a little lower on then other players.

Just as long as the pick is top 6, I won't be bent out of shape;

1.Chet
2.)Sharpe
3.)Smith
4.)Banchero
5.)Murray
6.)Ivey

All of those guys are good value picks, and all with question marks.

Peak happy would be top 3. Can't really go wrong.

Echo on that - of those 6 Chet actually worries me the most but what do I know

Any 1 of those 6 would fill a need here so I'm pretty comfortable going into the Lotto.

And you can say with 99% certainly that one of those guys likely isn't a top 6 pick. Someone always rises and surprises as the draft approaches. Last year it was Scottie Barnes.

Yeah I’m cool with any of those 6 I would even add Mathurin to that list

Still leaning on the intangibles and tangibles of Sharpe, but wouldn't mind Chet or even Banchero

I'm a big Mathurin fan, can't believe I forgot him

I just really want one of the bigs, or Sharpe though.

Just a few more days...

I’m on record as wanting nothing to do with Chet.

Jabari
Ivey
Sharpe
Banchero
Mathurin

Hopefully Big Ben can bring some positive energy/ good like again like Dan Gilberts kid.

We need Lightning to strike twice!

Watch until the Pistons’ pick is determined then watch something else. Likely a movie.

I didn't watch it last year purposely.
I tried to reverse jinx the Pistons lottery luck by not watching (after years of watching the lottery) and tuning in after to see the results so I went out for a bit to calm the nerves and while I drove, an ESPN notification popped up on my phone so I pulled over to the side of the road and said "Detroit Pistons won the lottery" and needless to say, I was beyond elated then posted here immediately.

I'll probably do the same thing this year. Find some stuff to do around the apartment (I'm usually busy in the early evenings anyway) and check the results after hoping for the best. Hey, it worked last year so maybe it'll work again.

I may not watch it at all. It’s very important to the team but the lottery itself is not good television.

I was on the road the last time we had one. That won’t be the case this time. So we’ll see.

I think you need to bring the reverse jinx to reverse squared jinx. Maybe watch it, but through two or three mirrors, with Chinese subtitles of something.

We need you! 8-)

This is the kind of draft that I really want to say, "This is how we know the good GMs from the bad." Honestly this year does not have a Cade, Zion, Ja Morant.

But Booker and Paul George werent #1 picks and the Pistons would love those guys too.

Gather round people. If the Pistons don't win the lottery, it's because NYPiston watched the lottery.

I will not know what happens until 3 A.M. following a long shift and commute. At which time I will check espn and then the comments here.

My wait and patience needs the reward of any of my top 4, the bigs and Sharpe! Let it be!
