Interesting off-season coming up

Post#1 » by kpt » Wed May 18, 2022 2:46 am

This will be an Interesting off-season that’s for sure. We could go in so many different directions.

1. Draft a wing and sign Ayton, Bags probably is gone keep grant
2. Draft a wing, keep bags, sign Other big, keep grant
3. Draft a wing, trade grant draft a PF with pick, sign Ayton

The list goes on but we have major flexibility that is for sure

Trade the pick, sign Ayton and Keep Grant?

My pipedream would be trade the #5 and pieces (Diallo/Hayes/Olynyk) for D.Mitchell (in before we draft the next Killian Hayes) and sign Ayton.

Ayton / Stewart
Grant / Bagley
Bey
Mitchell
Cade / CoJo

Playoffs :)

I don't see how we can sign Ayton and Bagley both and it's harder after adding a bit of salary in the D.Mitchell trade.

Draft Ivey
Keep grant
Overpay for Ayton
Resign Bagley

Cade Ivey Bey Grant Ayton
Bench: Hayes, Stewart, Livers, Diallo, Olynk, Bagley

Good balance in starting lineup. Shooting with Cade Bey Grant. Much needs athleticism and secondary ball handler from Ivey. He’ll thrive in open court and attacking down hill. Ayton being a real Center will make it easier for Grant at PF. Capable rim protector and rebounder. Ayton will kill it in pnr with Cade. Deep bench

We have enough expirings/semi expirings to match Mitchell's salary if needed (the 3 guys I posted + the pick cap hold make us gain cap space for example) and we could let Bagley go if needed (I don't think it is needed)

In GMs past I would be nervous with all the options available much like a choose your own adventure book. As of right now I think weaver keeps and extend grant (weavers bff), signs Ayton and drafts Ivey/sharpe and possibly brings back bags on a creative short term salary.

Cade/killian
Ivey/Diallo
Bey/livers
Grant/bags
Ayton/stewart/Kelly o

That’s solid but still lacking shooting and defense. Not my preference or dream line up but progress forward
