Forward Targets

After the draft, the Pistons biggest hole in the roster seems to be a starting forward that can play next to Bey.
The FA target is most likely: Miles Bridges
Who are some other Troy Weaver-esque options?
Could a trade for John Collins, Johnathan Issac or Patrick Williams be in the cards?
I know it may not seem like it’s possible to offer much now for trades but who knows what type of assets may come back for burning a little more cap space.
Who am I missing on the short list? Who might get disgruntled during the season and lose value that the team can pursue?
I love this time of year and can’t wait for free agency and summer league.

I don't know if I said it enough but JONATHAN ISAAC would be PERFECT for us.
He have no place in Orlando anymore. His value is at an all time low. We have a huge hole at PF thanks to Sacramento (I am not complaining).
His salary is very reasonable
Contract Notes:
Total incentives: $10.4 million
Due to missing entire 2021-22 season (in addition to missing >= 25 games), salaries for 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25 become partial or non-guaranted:
2022-23: $16,000,000 guaranteed
2023-24: $7,400,000 guaranteed
2024-25: non-guaranteed
2021-22: LTBE: $0, ULTBE: $2,600,000 (>= 70 regular season games)
2022-23: LTBE: $0, ULTBE: $2,600,000 (>= 70 regular season games)
2023-24: LTBE: $0, ULTBE: $2,600,000 (>= 70 regular season games)
2024-25: LTBE: $0, ULTBE: $2,600,000 (>= 70 regular season games)
We should be able to get him with minor assets/cap space and there is litteraly 0 risk with his contract clauses.
He can hit open 3's (he is not great at it, but he is average).
He was a DPOY candidate when he was playing.
He should be 100% healthy.
It's Orlando. They always fail to develop their players and they give them away for nothing.

Can someone persuade me into giving Bridges the near max? I just can't get behind it.

Pursue PJ Tucker in FA, he's a solid vet and can shift 3/4, knows the big moments. Tucker, and a guy like Collins would fit into the salary table without breaking the bank, leaving some space. I'm not sure Collins is the exact answer but he's a good fit for this tean, in theory.
trade for Aaron Gordon ? for a bigger fish ? Tobias Harris will be available.
I would also look for the Miles Bridges offer sheet, or even a poach of Cameron Johnson from PHX if things go sour on that team.
BTW What's the consensus on Bagley, who is literally playing for his NBA life....
Otto Porter is a FA, could be a wing option, too. Thad Young is still balling, if there's a vet min in the works.
anyway, high hopes for the Pistons this year, I'll be watching! Bey can play PF in small ball lineups, and he abused other slower forwards with his range, he's your 3 ideally, but shoot, solid cog in many lineups to have his skillset and size.

Im back and forth on it at the moment. Normally i would just jump on it at this point with our cap in such a good spot.
On the other side of things im loving having this cap-space to capitalize on teams that dont have enough but i also know it cant last forever having that type of cap-space.
I just dont want to be stuck with a bad contract but Bridges is good enough to probably keep it almost a neutral contract.

Yea I think he’s good enough and young enough that we wouldn’t get stuck with it. 4 yrs 30.5 mil. He’ll be 28 yrs old that final year.
Better defender than John Collins for sure. Collins is probably the better shooter, but at least it’s close. Bridges is under sized. But It doesn’t matter because he’s better defensively.
Don’t know if we’ll be able to get him. Hornets could just match.

It’s been so long since he’s played. I don’t know.
I would imagine they keep him just to gain some value.
He’s also alienated himself a bit right?

Bigs I'd target:
Jalen Smith would be my first call given he's young, unrestricted and can play some on the perimeter (defend in space and shoot from deep)
Bridges obviously.
Ayton obviously.
Bamba (RFA)
Boucher (UFA)
Robinson (UFA)
Cupboard is pretty bare tbh
Is it possible Bags, Duren and Stewart take most of the minutes at the 4/5?

Bags, Duren and Stewart is some bad spacing. I am not counting on Stewart to come in and improve his shooting, he was suppose to do that last summer too.
I don’t see Ayton fitting here now. I think that hurts the development of Duren.
We can’t have the PF and C unable to space the floor.
I think Jalen Smith is still a good option.

That's also my dream scenario:
Duren/Stewart
Wembanyama/Bagley
Bey/Livers
Ivey/Diallo
Cunningham/Hayes

Not a fan of tanking. Not a fan of not making moves in the hopes we're bad enough to get lucky in the Lottery.
We have enough now where a Max deal for Bridges or Ayton doesn't cripple us long term. I'd go for that and see what we see

Jalen Smith would be one of my top preferences as well. He can hit the 3 relatively consistently, can grow with this team and won't be extremely expensive.

Would love to see Jonathan Isaac on the Pistons.
You need that defense first 3/4 for small ball lineups at the end of games and in the playoffs.
I really liked Tari Eason to replace Jerami Grant but if J. Isaac could get his knee rebuilt that would be a nice add

Bridges and Isaac are the only two guys I could be interested in and I’m not really a fan of giving bridges a max. I think we have a nice young nucleus but force feeding them minutes and giving them development time would be really beneficial before spending the cash on a good free agent crop where if we can add another young gun (Webenyama/scoot or other) we look like an upcoming force that free agents will want to come to. We don’t NEED to sign someone this off-season simply because we have the cash. Playing the long game which is only another season, and if we eat a bad contract from someone for another draft pick, honestly the limit of our potential is sky high. That’s good asset management

You would need to add someone to play the 4/3. Issac would be the perfect low cost high reward/ bust target.

Am I the only one shocked that Bobby Portis is only 27? Seems like he's been in the league for 12 years. His offensive skill set/length is my ideal fit next to Stewart while he continues to grow on the offensive end.

Why is Isaac now the hot player here?
Did I miss something?
Dude hasn't played for ages

I’ve thought the same thing. He hasn’t played since 2019 while recovering from a major injury. All I can think is; he really no longer has a role with Orlando, his salary structure, and his supposed potential. Like if we could get him for a 2nd after other options were explored and fell through, sure why not. I just don’t see a point in making him a target acquisition.
