Your 2023 NBA Prospect

Post#1 » by bkseven » Wed Jul 6, 2022 8:19 pm

Weaver has positioned this team for at least one more top 8 pick. Traded away Grant. The team got younger in Ivey and Duren and the free agent signings were young low risk lotto type players. The team didn’t sign the big name free agents and pushed their cap space to 2023.

This team reminds me of how the SuperSonics built their team.

2007 - Durant 2nd overall pick vs Cade
2008 - Westbrook 4th overall pick and Ibaka 24th overall pick vs Ivey and Duren
2009 - Harden 3rd overall pick vs ???

With that said, I think the Pistons need to target one of the top wings in the 2023 draft like Ausar Thompson unless they luckily land the number one overall pick..

Thompson projects to be an elite defender at the wing position, which is highly valued in the NBA today. He can be our Marcus Smart/Jalen brown type of player and be out last “tank” guy.

Or Dillon Mitchell can be our Texas version of Durant’s Texas days. 8-)

My guy is Cam Whitmore for now... uess there's anybody that pops up in the Evan Mobley/Chet Holmgren mold.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

obviously wembanyama and scoot henderson are the two top prospects right now but i'm gonna learn from jaden hardy and emoni bates last off season and not buy in on hype about specific guys until we get some more tape on them.

obviously BPA is the way to go the vast majority of the time but i hope that happens to align with a SF/PF-type player, if not like a 6'9-6'10 wing. right now it looks like cameron whitmore is the highest rated one so he's probably going to be the one i keep my eye on to start.

wembayanma at PF is the dream though.

Wemby/Whitmore/Amen

Wemby sort of speaks for himself, might be one of the best defensive prospects of all time, plus shows a growing offensive skill set

Whitmore seems like a great fit for our core, plus has the type of connections Weaver likes

Amen is a freakish athlete who is just scratching the surface of what he can be. Elite 2 way potential connective wing

Sleeper would be Jarrace Walker and Arthur Kaluma

I think this draft is where fit plays a more vital role if not in play for Vic.

Cam Whitmore - powerful bodied scoring combo forward going to a college program with great culture
Mitchell- smaller Ben Simmons with more motor
Kris Murray - I suspect he takes a leap like his brother

Webanyama would be the pick if he can continue to develop his shot and play the 4. Too bad this team has had abysmal luck with its French draft picks (see Killian and Sekou). Jaren Jackson Jr. would be a perfect fit for this team, so anyone looking remotely like him would be the guy.

Good call! Kris Murray looks good… checked his stats. He’ll more than likely be just like his brother. Nice fit at the 4.

1. Wenbanyama
2. Whitehead
3&4. One of the Thompson brothers
5. Dillion Mitchell
6. Whitmore

Is the ranking I see right now for us, I'm staying away from scoot because I think he would be redundant.

My current plan is to win the lottery and take Wenbanyama. Easy.

Hard to say who to draft now but we do need another tank year since we didn't sign anyone in the 22 offseason. Not going to be bad enough for top 5 but hopefully get somebody good in the top 10

I like it. Need as much lengthy wings with a jump shot and some dribble moves as much as possible

Yup this is a massive addition. He was the #1 prospect in 2023. This draft was looking good before he joined the class. I think anywhere in the top 10 this year is going to be a real nice player.

i'm really liking that our biggest need is a wing player (especially a bigger wing) and this draft seems to have a bunch of talent there.

and i also like that chet playing in the nba this year could give some insight on how wembanyama might fare early on as well since they have similar frames.

Sucks Emoni Bates looked like crap, would of been cool to bring on a local Star at a position of need from Ypsilanti.

Return to Detroit Pistons
