Excellent. I am hoping he eases up on the technicals for passion, and tries to implement more physicality back into the game.

A return to the 80's and 90's style of ball is long overdue.

I highly doubt that happens.

But congrats to Joe - awesome to see him land the gig. Say what you want about the way it ended, but when you look at overall body of work he's gotta be in consideration for greatest Piston of all-time. And the Joe Dumars trophy is handed to the leagues Sportsmanship Award winner. He's incredibly well respected all around the league.

Joe D deserves a Joe D appreciation night at LCA.

Good for him; as long as the talent strategy doesn't require talent evaluation I'm all for it.

I don't think an argument against Dumars being the greatest Piston of all-time would hold up. All-star guard, two players championships, a finals MVP, and constructed a championship roster, and brought one home as a GM.

Overall body of work, speaks for itself.

Also played his entire career in Detroit. He & Isiah were the only ones to do so from the Bad Boys teams.

Lanier, Isiah definitely ahead of Joe and probably Bing as well. No Joe doesn't belong in the conversation for greatest Piston.
He was a great Piston but No not the GOAT.

Anyways if I could beg him to push for some new league standards in his new capacity, I would beg Joe to push that 3 point line waaaaay out, as far out as needed, to make it rare again. I want a return to a game where the Center is a real position again and we don't lose out on seeing the next Wilt, Akeem, Kareem or Shaq.
Make the halfcourt line the 3 point if you have to, just do something to fix what the game has fallen to now please!

Dumars hasn't been since in Detroit since SVG got handed the GM/Coach job from Gores. Wasn't at the Ben Wallace HOF ceremony. Wasn't at the last Bad Boys championship anniversary celebration. Seems like he's pretty bitter about being let go by Gores. Not sure how, if at all, that will impact him in his new role in the league. Sounds like he's supposed to work closely with owners and GMs so hopefully he can let it go.

Think that's more about creating distance between previous role and going away for a bit.

Didn't he "advise" Sacramento for a bit after us?

Still congrats to Joe getting another NBA gig. The game has been the majority if his life so to be around it in a working capacity must be awesome for him.

Ya I always thought the tip of the top of the current 3pt line. Just draw a line across the court parallel to the half court line. There's your 3pt shot

I could be totally wrong and perhaps there isn't any bad blood between Gores and Joe D. Just has been strange not to see him anywhere around our organization for the last 8 years.

I still think Joe D's job as a GM from when he got the job in 2000 to when he won the championship in 2004 was the greatest and most impressive NBA championship roster built by a GM in the history of the league. In 2000 the Pistons had essentially a barren roster outside of Jerry Stackhouse once Grant Hill decided to leave. He got Ben Wallace to commit as a FA (eventually ending up a double sign and trade for Hill), got Billups as an MLE FA, swapped Stack for RIP, drafted future all-star Okur in the 2nd round, landed glue guy Prince with a late first, and made the final move to secure Sheed for expirings and two mid to late first rounders. Not to mention his first two coaching hires were great in Carlisle and then Brown. In a market FA's don't usually flock to and without a top 15 player he but together the only NBA championship team without a top 75 all-time great player.... also a run of 6 straight ECF appearances which its super rare for any team in the history of the league to make it to 6 straight conference finals.

Congrats to Joe Dumars!

I didn't think this was too far out of bounds considering the back half of his managerial tenure here?

Sorry I stepped on your lawn on my way home from school sir?
