Another reason to root against them. Blake started as one of my favorites but turned into a bum. I don't think he has a lot left.

His 2018-19 season was far beyond even my wildest expectations for him when the Pistons traded for him (I expected pretty much nothing.) I still don't get the antics in some of his LCA returns - all I can think of is he either wanted full money in a buyout or he blames the Pistons for the knee injury that pretty much ended his time as a productive NBA player.

But he's cooked at this point. I don't see what value he brings to the Celtics other than being a warm body.

Can Blake shoot 3s at about 40% yet?
No

He’ll have great seats for the playoffs

Blake had arguably his best ever year in Detroit, and then proceeded to fall of a cliff so high it was shocking.

Since then, he has been just terrible.

The year we bought out Blake, he clearly didn't want to play for us. As soon as he signed somewhere else he was a completely different player. I can't believe people don't remember that. He is a dbag, and he is irrelevant. I feel bad for Boston for getting him.

One more reason to cheer for whoever is playing Boston

He was better over a span of 26 games; which you might also attribute in part to no longer needing to be a focal point on offense or create his own shots. It wasn’t anything earth-shattering because he didn't do it in high volume and was still a sieve on defense. So yeah. Not that memorable.

The next year he was abject terrible again :)

I hope Blake finds a nice flophouse to stay in when the team is at home.

*shrug* Blake is fine. If I wanted to be on a contender on the backside of my career and wound up in Detroit I'd probably be a lil miffed too.

I saw part of his appearance on Reddick’s podcast. He takes it pretty personally that Piston fans hate him- from his perspective he played his ass off to the point of trying to play in the playoffs hurt. The whole “Blake hasn’t dunked in x days” things bugged him in particular- and has resented the booing he’s received upon return.

There’s a bit of a point on his part- he didn’t ask SVG to trade for his god-awful contract- and he did give it his all when he was healthy. I also personally never bought the whole not-dunking thing- his dunks in Brooklyn came after quite some time of rehabbing on his own- he was playing hurt (or not playing at all) during the time he was “refusing” to dunk for us.

But it’s hard to even consider any point he might have had now that we have his behavior upon his return to LCA to evaluate. It’s…not been great.

I honestly haven't been paying attention. Anything in particular happen at LCA?

Awful trade wasted years we could of been rebuilding but at least it did bottom us out completely to get what we have now

I get that he got more time to rehab after the Pistons bought him out, but please, he suddenly got the ability to dunk all the time? No, while I do agree he worked his butt off that first year, he was cruising at the end there, a combination of decaying body, losing games even when he tries hard, and poor attitude. Pistons got one year of great Blake Griifin and then got him in existential mode. Pistons should really want to boo SVG, but Blake is not blameless.

To be fair he dunked only a couple of times. It wasn’t like he magically transformed and suddenly had springs again. If anything I could see Pistons staff telling him to conserve his legs knowing he was done to be honest.

pretty glad he's not going to be in the rotation tbh. it sucked watching him constantly instigate with cheap shots and flop vs. isaiah stewart.

appreciate blake for giving it his all when he was healthy and didn't even blame him for dogging it to save his legs when we weren't a playoff team but it was just pathetic for him to mess around with stewart. i would've hoped he got a ring before he did that.

Blake Griffin had 0 dunks across 20 games and 626 minutes with the Detroit Pistons

He had 26 dunks across 38 games and 978 minutes with the Brooklyn Nets

Per Basketball Reference

He didn't have a fountain of youth, but he was dogging it in Detroit for sure. He was still one of the highest paid players in the league.

I stand corrected. I saw it highlighted a few times when he first played for the nets and then didn't see him do it afterwards.

There was that Griffin/Stewart mini-scrum. That may have sealed it for Griffin.
