Weaver was right but we got screwed

Weaver had the right idea, he traded for Bol Bol, but his foot injury screwed us, than the plan B was a terrible idea. Marvin Bagley is a bad basketball player, while Bol Bol is a monster.

He is everything we need. Bol Bol and Stewart off the bench for us would be scary.

We 100% could have kept him if we wanted to. It seems his injury was fairly minor.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I think Bagley was going to earn that contract plus. Sux he got hurt.

Yeah I loved this trade when I saw it, was pretty annoyed we canceled it. I think his potential is far better than Bags and would’ve been able to resign at a fraction of the cost.

I was surprised we couldn't re-negotiate for better terms (enough to accept the trade) after the failed physical.

Bol Bol would be redundant after we get Victor Wem

The issue with Bol Bol was the other end of the floor. I wonder how he will grade out on defense now that he is getting rotational minutes.

I mean, we'll see. No way of knowing if that's sustainable and there's already data that suggests he doesn't have the durability to produce in a sustainable fashion in the NBA.

Sekou had a couple of nights where he looked like a future all star.

Isn't that part of his history, getting hurt. If you sign Bagley, you probably need to factor in that he's going to miss a lot of games, in many ways this is one of the big problems with his career, can't stay on the court enough to get rolling. Maybe as he gets older he gets healthier?

Hey, we've still got Diallo. And on some nights "Diallo looked like the best player on the floor." Well, according to one person here, anyway. So there's hope.

Feb 24th vs CLE a Pistons win 21 points on 7-11 shooting 6 rebounds 2 steals and a+9
Feb 4th vs BOS a Pistons loss 21 points 8-17 shooting 14 rebounds 1 steal and 0 TO
Jan 14 vs TOR a Pistons win 18 points 9-16 shooting 6 rebounds 2 steals and a +23

He of course had the stretch of games during covid where he scored 34, 31, and 28 three games in a row. He also had 13 steals over that 3 game span.

To say that he had several nights last season as the best player on the floor for us isn't a stretch. He was a bright spot at times, leading all guards for a while in FG% inside 5 feet and also had a stretch where he was leading the league in steals per minute.

Durability is the biggest concern with Bol Bol. Can he stay healthy for an 82-game season?

Oh wait—it’s not last season anymore. Scratch that.

Nobody has ever questioned this guys talent. He has bad feet. 7'2 and has hasnt had a healthy season since high school.

Even if by a miracle hes healthy on another team this season that doesnt mean said miracle would happen if he stayed with us. Every game he plays he has one of the higher injury risks in the NBA with his size injury history. Any type of wrong step or fall that could be it. A few guys have came back from this injury but they didnt reinjure the same foot again.

I always have loved his game. Followed him since highschool. He kinda reminds me of Chet another ultra skilled giant who'll likely never stay healthy.

Probably not. My guess is that's exactly why he didn't stick in Detroit. Not due to a lack of talent or that he was necessarily hurt at the time of his physical evaluation, but that when they looked at the history, x-rays, performance in some physical tests, etc. they said "Nope. Not gonna hold up long term."

Bol^2 is very talented. Apparently he was acting like an entitled jackass in Denver and they got tired of him. Maybe he was humbled enough to get it together.
