Is There a Free Agent You'd Want Weaver To Sign?

Or would you rather him spend our money on a couple of guys? I like putting it all on one max-player. We have a logjam as it is, but they're not good enough.

Bradley Beal is a guy I'd like. We need someone who can play off the ball. Beal also hits the mid-range.... Teams are focusing on their defense on running off 3-pt shooters. It's a copycat league in respects, but GS have the best 3-pt shooters ever. And they took the least amount. I'm surprised why teams haven't copied that part of it.

Josh Hart is a role player who I think fits... Casey recently said that Stew is the heart and soul of the team, and "If we had 5 Isaiah Stewarts out there, we'd be fine on the court". I think Bey comes off the bench before Bojan, but it doesn't minimize their role. Doc Rivers says it, but it's a good quote - "Be a star in your role".

Siakam is a free agent, or at least has an opt-out. I don't see him leaving. I know statistically it seems like he's a great player, and I've seen him play both ends, but I've seen him disappear in big games, and not sure why he doesn't get much attention.

OR, would you rather wait another year, and get a guy like Booker? He might wanna come back home and play for the Pistons, and he definitely would go perfectly well with Cade... I hope Weaver has his eye on the potential Phoenix "fire sale". Chris Paul isn't getting better, and they gave him a ton of money, and all the rest of the guys. Mikal Bridges is a player I'm very high on, and doesn't have high usage on the offensive end, and seems to hit open shots, and plays great defense - which has to be key.. I can't stand getting guys who can't play defense.

It depends on how the remainder of this season goes... and where we fall in the lottery. If we land Victor (looking like we might end up with a 14% chance at number 1 if we're bottom 3 once again) it kind of changes everything and you start to think about what you'd want around him.

Gary Trent Jr is someone I really like as a guy that is a young efficient 20 PPG scorer who also defends really well and can switch onto all types of players. If we move on from Diallo, Hayes, and Burks we could certainly consider a 3 guard rotation of GTJ, Ivey, and Cade.

I just can't see us winning the lottery again.. I also wonder if he has "Chet problems" -- it seems to happen to guys over 7'1"

Too much losing will kill our re-build. It would be awful to see Cade do a Grant Hill and bolt off to a contender.

This is an impossible question, as who knows what pick the Pistons will get, who will be the coach, and who will even remain on the team next year, or even this year.

As it stands, it would be like adding sprinkles to a crap cake. It won't affect anything.

Without knowing who the draft pick, I’d love to finally be done with Killian & CoJo and pick up Ayo Dosunmu from the Bulls. It’s not sexy but he seems rock solid.

I’m also really big on Gary Trent Jr. It would probably require sending Bey to the bench as a super 6th man and starting:

Ivey
Trent
Cade
Bojan
Duren/ Stewart ?

I’d also monitor the Suns ability to resign Cam Johnson with their high payroll and ownership in transition.

Cade
Ivey
Cam Johnson
Bojan
Duren/ Stewart

That would be a nice starting 5 with the FRP sprinkled in somewhere.

Our very own Isiah Thomas has been singing Ayo's praises on NBA TV for a long time.

PJ Washington and Jalen McDaniels - WE NEED SHOOTING!!

Christian Wood would be nice too, but severely doubt he has any intentions on coming back here

One thing is for sure, whoever we add next year needs to be a positive defender. We can't have any more below average defenders added to the worst defense in the league.

What would be the path to acquiring him?

If Phoenix didn't want to pay luxury tax as they are trying to sell the team (its a huge difference because paying in you don't get the big chunk of money coming from the Warriors and Clippers).... then I could see Phoenix having to move him. If not, they'll almost certainly hold onto him as they move forward trying to win a championship.

Surprisingly they have only been playing Ayton 25 mpg this season and he's averaging 15 and 8. Not sure if its been injury related or foul trouble or what. Not really an overwhelming endorsement for his $140 million contract.

I watch a lot of games on league pass and during a Suns game the broadcast crew mentioned that the team has the exact same success with BISMACK
BIYOMBO on the court as they did with Ayton.

I wouldn’t trade much if anything for him.

Suppose the new ownership group wanted to move on from him. What would a Pistons offer look like?

A big wing/PF/Length

The team needs a positive defender that is 6'9"-6'10" with long arms that can hit the 3.

Christian Wood, Myles Turner, Middleton, Porzingis.

Guys like Dwight Powell and Niang would be good too.

Weaver has Bey and Bojan and neither can play defense at the level needed - maybe Bey gets better as he learns more what he can't do so he puts himself in better positions.
