Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
I think he'll coach out his contract, unless we lose 10 straight, lose the locker room, but I hope there's someone out there who's thinking, "Boy, what could I do with this group!"
#1 - Who do you think will be our next head coach after Casey
#2 - Who would you want
I think if Quinn Snyder isn't picked up, he'd be someone Weaver might get. Just seems like his kinda move. Right now, he'd probably be my pick out of the unemployed coaches.
#2 - Sam Cassell - if we're going to go with a rookie head coach to lead our team ala Willie Green, a longtime respected assistant.

Hopefully it's a up and coming coach like Cassell but I don't know enough about the "next" head coaches to name any of them

I personally feel it’s time for Casey. We need a different voice for the next step.
Cassell was terrible as AC here in DC. It’s been awhile so hopefully he’s improved.
Like everything else, I’m sure Weaver will be creative, and perhaps controversial.

I don't think Darvin Ham was the right choice for a win-now Lakers team, but I think he's someone we could hire. He stresses defense, and wasn't afraid of benching Westbrook. And he won a title with the Pistons, playing 2 minutes a game, but playing his ass off.

I've got a name to keep your eye on. No rumors or reports about him currently, just my thoughts.
Jarron Collins.
Spent 7 years as an assistant to Kerr in GS. Left GS last year to become Willie Green's first assistant in New Orleans.

Just curious, what made Cassell a poor assistant in DC? How do you assess the job performance of an assistant coach from afar? Or did something specific happen with him?

Juwon Howard is a possibility. Something the team might do, and something I'd support as a fan.
Sub-question. Chauncey's contract ends in 2025 or 2026 (depend on the team option)... Would you be willing to keep Casey around until then?

**** no.
I wouldn't keep him that long for the greatest coach of all time, much less Chauncey Billups.

Re: Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Billups would be too big a presence/personality for the team I think as a former Piston legend. This is a players league.
Juwan Howard would interest me, but he's a bit of a loose cannon as well. His mentality might be better suited for the pro game than being a mentor and influence on college aged young men. Unless fired for another mess, I think Howard will spend though next year with the Wolverines at least as his boys are there.
I like love Michigan ties and Spo coaching tree though.

Re: Who Will Be Our Next Coach?
Personally I think calling Juwan Howard a “loose cannon” over one incident is hyperbole. He was an assistant with the Heat for seven? seasons with no “loose cannon” moments. He’s certainly a players’ coach and a competent X’s and O’s guy. However he’s under contract with Michigan through the 2026 NCAA season and he doesn’t strike me as a guy to run off for NBA head coaching dollars before getting the grand prize (NCAA championship) or close to it first. Especially now with his kid starting to get some notice.
But as a coach, yeah, I’d love him.

Dammit I thought whats-his-face got canned when I saw the title.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
