Re: RJ Hampton
What does Detroit get out of a ROS signing? I guess certain relationship and familiarity to re-sign him as a UFA without Bird Rights if he plays well enough to want to keep him. Could Detroit claim him on waivers with the Cunningham DPE and then have some rights to him longer term?

Waive the fella on the 10-day. Bey and Knox went out and only Wiseman came in on guaranteed deal.

Re: RJ Hampton
Don't we already have enough bad players who need minutes to show their potential?
There is already Hayes and Ivey for PG, along with Cojo, Burks, McGruder - unless we already decided Hayes isn't worth putting anymore effort into and might as well see what this other trash heap guy might bring.

Burks doesnāt really fit the āpotentialā scenario.
Hayes and Ivey definitely need playing time, unless you want to start the rebuild all over again.
I think we can pass on Cojo and McGruder and give anybody with a sniff of potential a spot on our roster. Not like there are any ābigā deals to be made after the trade deadline.

Why not? I think he can still be a good contribution to a team

Youāve got to figure cojo and McGruder will continue to see their roles lessen, Hampton should study Burks on offense
Heās 22, more a secondary ball handler, seems like heād be better off working to become a 3 and D type, weāre bad, have an open spot, and donāt have anywhere close to 12 players that we have to keep.
Whatās the issue? Itās a quick look at a younger guy with some potential. We couldāve promoted Buddy Boheim instead.

This is basically just his way to try out, IMO.

Re: RJ Hampton
If this cuts down on Cojo minutes, I don't care who the team signs, because he is cooked.

Re: RJ Hampton
He's worth a look. I'm fairly certain that Orlando waived him per his request. He clearly wasn't happy with his role and wanted out.
He doesn't have a bunch of gears, but he plays hard. He really gets out in transition. He will attack the rim, but he doesn't have much nuance in doing so. He tries to draw contact, but he isn't good at getting calls. His finishing around the rim has to get better, but he doesn't do himself any favors by going full speed all the time. His shot isn't soft, but he gets enough to go in to give you hope.
His biggest issue is that he believes he is a combo guard. Someone is giving him bad advice and it might kill his career. The longer the ball sticks in his hands, the worse he is. His best stretch came during the final month of his rookie season after he was traded to Orlando. He was making his decisions quickly and getting rid of the ball. If he would embrace that role, there isn't any reason why he can't be similar to what Josh Green is for Dallas right now.

"Xatticus has always been, in my humble opinion best poster here. Should write articles or something."

This is the move I expected from the Pistons with that open roster move. I don't think it will matter, but giving a young guy more burn isn't a bad idea for these last 24 games. It is sad though that the Pistons are scooping up Orlando's cast off. It does shed some light on the state of the team.

Elite tanking weapon ROS. Shut down BB and Burks and were good to go.

This was exactly my thought. I get the injuries, I really do, but man are expectations high for next season.Sort wrote:This is the move I expected from the Pistons with that open roster move. God help Weaver if the pick is below #2, and he strikes out in free agency.
BTW, McMillan got canned in Atlanta for having a .500 season. A .500 season.
Good grief. With that roster, id say he was doing a great job. Nothing like two ball hogs on the roster.
