This is how stars randomly become available.
If we get the 4-5th pick I'd be willing to trade the pick for Brown and give them Bagley.
Would you do that or wait until he's a free agent in 2024.
Imo Weaver will look into that option this year and surprise people. There's a chance he trades down for example and get OG Onunoby and Raptors pick for our pick. All depends where we land. I've seen some mean creativity out of Weaver, I believe he can get us a good veteran pickup and a good pick to come with it.

If he's willing to sign an extension and wants to come here via trade, its a no brainer to trade for him he's a legit #1 offensive option star player.... that said, Boston is close to a championship they'd want a guy like Dame or someone else that can help them win now IMO.

What would the Celtics use for the 4th or 5th pick (Bags may also not be an asset to most teams)? 0 use for it for them unless they just do an immediate 3 team trade to get another auxiliary star

The 4th or 5th pick? The Celtics would probably hang up the phone.

We're not getting Time Lord too! He's on a team friendly contract.

Boston aren't accepting Bags + the 4th or 5th pick for Brown.

Probably Bojan Ivey 4th pick and Stew for Brown.
I posted Bojan Ivey Stew and Wiseman for Brown and Gallo and people said it would cost us Cade or #2 pick to land Jaylen or at least multiple 1sts added to that package.

The truth is, Brown makes no sense for us right now. He can't sign a max extension so he'll for sure go into FA as a UFA in 15 months. If we have interest in him we should prepare to make him an offer as a FA in 15 months not trade for him now.
He is the type of player that might see the appeal in playing for a black head coach, with a black GM (12 black GMs in the league), and in a mostly black city of Detroit. Detroit is 80% black which is the largest percentage as well as the largest overall population of a city in the US that is more than 50% black.
Jordan is the only black majority owner but he is reportedly looking to sell.

Nope. Wait for free agency in 2024. While I think everyone expects Weaver to make some bold moves toward serious improvement next year, I doubt anyone expects the team to jump to championship contender status next season. So IMO there's no harm in waiting for a guy like Brown to become a free agent rather than giving up picks/players and hoping you can sign him to an extension. My guess is his preference would be to stay in Boston; regardless of all the issues he's pointed out it's not like he's out there hollering "Boston sucks; get me the hell outta here."

He also knows Boston had him in a trade offer for KD, and he also has been outspoken about Boston's fans treatment of Kyrie Irving whom he is seemingly still good friends with. The fact that he isn't saying "I want to be in Boston long term" and instead is saying he is noncommittal and wants to leave his options open means that Boston is perhaps still possible but he certainly wouldn't mind playing elsewhere as well. They can offer the most money and a 5th year so that is certainly appealing when factoring in everything but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him leave.... especially if Boston doesn't make the finals again over the next two seasons.

I would imagine there are quite a few teams that could easily surpass any realistic package we could put together.
Even if the Celtics didn't want a haul of draft picks OKC, NOP, Brooklyn and New York likely are ahead of us.

Easily is underselling it here. Nearly every single team would line up in droves to get in touch with Stevens with better offers. He wouldn't pick up the phone if Weav's called. We don't have anything that we'll give up (Cade, maybe Ivey, Duren) and things Celtics
may need
We got the lotto pick if it's not 1 or 2 and that's really it

If Brown doesn’t make All NBA, he will likely test free agency because Boston can’t give him as much as being a free agent. If he does make All NBA, he stays in Boston.
We are not one player away from being great. Brown would be a great addition, but not if we are giving away assets. So FA acquisition should be the only way to pursue him, but that’s even questionable way to spend our cap space right now.
Weaver is doing a good job managing our cap. Some of us are losing their minds over Bagley or Hayes, but that’s not a big deal. It’s what you do w those $25M+ contracts. You need to nail each of them or your franchise gets crippled.
Best course of action is to get a stud wing in the draft and pick up a few free agents with one year deals, or one plus team option, thus keeping our cap flexibility. Next year we should get in the playoffs, our young core all takes a step up, and now we’re more lucrative as a free agent destination and still have cap space. 2024 FA Jaylen Brown makes sense at that point if he’s the missing piece. But giving away assets in a near term trade for him would be impatient and unwise.
