Weavers letter to the fans.
https://www.nba.com/pistons/news/a-letter-from-troy-weaver
"When I made the decision to join the Detroit Pistons franchise in June of 2020, it was with great appreciation and understanding for what this organization means to the city, its fans and all those who bleed red, white, and blue. I know the history, I know the tradition and I know the urgency to which our fans want to win and see us move back up the ladder of the NBA’s hierarchy. Our focus is aligned with yours – and from the top down – we are committed to delivering on this restoration process for you.
Rebuilding a team does not always follow a linear path, and we experienced that this year with the injury to Cade Cunningham that forced him to miss a majority of the season. While that injury impacted the continuity of our team, it also presented an opportunity for growth from others.
Overall, our players have overwhelmingly embraced the core principle of going to work and competing every night. We are in an excellent spot to upgrade our roster this offseason. We’ve positioned ourselves for another high draft choice in this year’s draft, we have a favorable salary cap position, and we’ll continue to talk with teams and evaluate trade opportunities as they present themselves.
Make no mistake – we are all disappointed with our record this season but are confident that we continue to be on the right path to success. We appreciate your patience, trust and loyal support as we continue this journey together.
You deserve the opportunity to celebrate this team once again as a fixture among the NBA’s best, a bedrock of this city and its culture. We are partners with you in building greatness together.

Pretty overt tanking admission there. Silver may come calling.

This doesn't sound/read like Weaver to me. Wonder who wrote it if he didn't.

Yes, it's much more believable that a published open letter bearing his name and accompanied by his picture was written by someone other than him. Come on, man. Seriously.

Re: Weavers letter to the fans.
Only thing it means is he gave up the season once Cade got injured and positioned the team for another high pick.
I can kiss Weaver’s hand, please keep the high picks coming they won’t ever get old.
All in all the message means nothing for the future.
As we stand today I expect us to be a bottom 5-8 team again next season. Why? We will not see the defensive upgrade that some people are expecting next season. We need a massive upgrade defensively at the wings and unless it’s Wenbenyama, it’ll have to come via free agency and/or trade and you all know the answer to that one. We won’t get anybody

I'm not suggesting he didn't sign off on it. We've both heard him speak many times. Doesn't sound like him, that's all.
Regardless, it is his message. I'm glad he did something like this.

“Please still buy season tickets for next season.”
That said, if we get wembanyama then those tickets will sell themselves.

Here’s a haiku in the voice of Troy Weaver about the Detroit Pistons:
Pistons, our great team
Defense, toughness, selflessness
We’ll rise to the top
Thanks, AI!

Weaver = Hinkie.
If Casey isn't fired the day after the season it's time to abandon ship.

Yeah, Hinkie was so competent that after three years of tanking and being forced to resign, it took two more years for the Sixers to make the playoffs and lose in the second round. Exactly ONE of Hinkie's players, Joel Embiid, is still with the team.

I doubt you will see that, while Casey is probably a mediocre to bad game manager coach, I think he's very good behind the scenes, he's the type of coach that players want to put effort out for and have respect for him as a person/coach. We probably have 1/2 more years of Casey, before they get a coach that helps them win on the floor.

Re: Weavers letter to the fans.
I for one think the pistons are doing it right. We have only sucked for 3 years and have acquired some good assets in that time. If we don't get screwed with the draft and at least get a top three pick this team will have a lot of potential moving forward. You can't be good and acquire good young talent at the same time. Your either Dallas and find a superstar and struggle to put pieces around him or OKC (Durant era) way and get 3 to 4 years of high draft picks and groom them.
