Paul George on a podcast recently spoke about Jalen Duren;

Read on Twitter

Its always nice to hear what other NBA players think about the Pistons young players, but he did raise a concern about the team stunting his growth by having to many bigs, and I know some here are worried because Wiseman is starting.

I've been furious since the moment our (Please Use More Appropriate Word) GM said Wiseman would start. It's a **** joke.

Duren was our only bright spot this season. He is a good player. After Bojan and Burks he have our highest VORP, he is #1 in TS%, close to neutral in OBPM and DBPM (as a 19 yo rookie big man) Highest TRB% by a fair margin Highest WS/48 by a fair margin and the highest PER on the entire team. What was his reward? He lost his starting spot and is playing less minutes.

Duren is good, Wiseman is terrible. Weaver is a **** (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

The fact that weaver actively chose to have wiseman, bagley and Hayes on the roster next year for a combined $30 million actually baffles me.

And wiseman wasn’t even in the warriors rotation yet we’re gifting him a starting spot. I get that we want to see what we have in him but it’s not like he’s a free agent, he’s fully under contract with us next year.

Duren is not playing fewer minutes; look at the game logs. He played almost 36 minutes last night; he just isn't starting.

I won't get caught up in the principle of anything here. Wiseman shouldn't be starting over Duren because he isn't better than Duren.

That's it. Full stop.

He did start last night. That's why he got 36.

I'll rephrase. Hasn't been starting.

Exactly. We have a rookie who is ready, who should be getting 'reps' playing against starting Centers.

If anything, it's Wiseman who should come off the bench to lessen pressure going against much stronger dudes.

Duren is going to be fine. They started wiseman just to get him some reps.

Next year, assuming we do OK in the draft and cade is back healthy, we'll has a bunch of scorers in the starting lineup and Duren will likely start with them. Wiseman will get minutes off the bench where he can be more of a featured scorer.

I don't like it either, but I can see why they are looking at Wiseman, starting him, he's getting 26 minutes vs. Duren's 22. They don't have much time to look at Wiseman vs. Duren, I think they are using this time now for that. Next year I think Duren will be starting, Wiseman may be the backup C or even PF. I wouldn't worry about it now, if Duren is on the bench next year that's an issue.

Weaver have absolutely no idea wtf he is doing. It's that simple. If we don't get a top 2 pick (which is very likely) we will be the worst team in the league again.

Duren is clearly the better player, and he need to be developed. He is already a good player but he is young and have to improve a lot. We should be 100% focused in develop him. Especially in a lost season.

Doesn't matter how you see the situation. Weaver's decision and it was Weaver's decision not Casey, to start Wiseman is (Please Use More Appropriate Word). Period.

Duren should be playing 30+ minutes and starting. Everything else should be irrelevant. He was the only good thing this season.

If duren isn’t starter next year then we all riot. Think they just play wiseman to see what he has, do wish duren got fed like he did in them
Games tho.

At first, I thought Weaver was great, but now I'm not so sure. Getting the #1 pick helps, and getting Duren/Ivey, and a Top 3 pick this summer.

As long as he's getting minutes, I don't care if he starts. Maybe they feel it's less pressure coming off the bench.

Draymond says Wiseman will be a star, fwiw.

The starting lineups at this point are basically experimenting with the mix and using the guys you have. I fully believe Duren is our starter and Wiseman starting is because they want him getting as much time as possible while the games don’t matter.
Duren is averaging like 7 minutes less when he comes off the bench, but that includes time where he was recovering from an injury.

Hayes is starting, does anyone honestly think he’s starting next season? I’ll be surprised if he even plays 20 minutes a game next season (if he’s still a Piston).

It's so much more fun to be outraged than logical though.

I guess. I just don’t get it. Hayes isn’t really much to watch. It would’ve been better to decline his option and make him the next lottery pick redemption project. Instead you’d think he’d gotten a 4 year extension and Iveys starting spot.

You had the crazy overdone responses to Hampton when he joined and looked completely lost.

We’re watching NBA practice squads at this point, what did we think was going to happen.

Not to mention we added rookies and poor defensive players to a team of guys on rookie contracts and poor defensive players. And people thought for some reason we’d be a play in team (??????).

And that’s before Cade went down.

I check on them but that’s it, congratulations to those that suffer through this…with so much better to things to do.
